Only to a small fraction of posters on partisan message boards like this one. The rest of the country could care less about this. Life sentences for non-violent drug crimes should be antithetical to what we stand for. It’s objectively wrong by any measure of crime and punishment. Regardless of who commutes it.

And you guys only care because it was Obama. If it were Bush this thread would never have seen the light of day.

To me the biggest problem is we convict people on what the courts will allow for evidence against the criminal. I don't anything about this guy or case but before I would condemn Obama on the commutation, I would want to review the actual case that was presented against this guy. It's like should someone spend the rest of their life in prison for tax evasion. We would probably all agree, no, but if that's what you can get them on, see Capone. We are all so fast to rush to judgement one way or the other because it fits our narrative. We should be better than that and if Obama only had this guy's drug offence, then hard to judge Obama on this guy's lack of character. Everyone wants to be the first to report and draw a conclusion whether it has all the facts or just enough to support or defend your team.

Not to nit pick but Capone served 8 years of an 11 year sentence for tax evasion, not a life sentence.

Agree with this post. Too much rush to judgement on every single thing.
