Roster and coaching staff needs an overhaul prior to the Fall. Walton needs to land actual talent in the portal over the summer. He struck out on everyone last summer. And it is time to say goodbye to your buddies on the coaching staff.
No excuses . Adjust. You have to adjust to the best of your ability. Happens all the time. This is nothing new.
I would agree. Just don't think our pitching coach or hitting coach know what to say. I don't trust anyone outside of Wallace and Echols to be able to adjust on their own.
Maybe it’s just that the SEC really sucked this year. We got abused in Palm Springs. Got swept by FSU. And only Georgia has advanced outside of a regional so far.
And who would have predicted the regression from Hightower and then Delbray becoming a non-contributor. What could have been....... SMH
Tennessee and Alabama are on their way to advancing. I think Tennessee is the only sec team that will reach the WCWS. Bama advances. LSU is coming back in that game to tie it up.
Alabama just advanced with a 1-0 win over Middle Tennessee State. Fouts didn't pitch, but they had 3 others good enough to get the job done. LSU has come from 6-0 down to take a 7-6 lead over Louisiana in the 4th. Ole Miss, Missouri, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Kentucky, South Carolina, Auburn & Arkansas have already been eliminated. Florida is about to be. So out of 12 SEC 12 to make the tournament, only Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and maybe LSU will advance to the Supers. Georgia has to go to FSU, Alabama will host Northwestern, Tennessee will host Texas and if LSU advances, they will probably travel to Washington, although the Huskies just lost to McNeese St., and need to beat them in the 2nd game.
At times our lack of good pitching affects the hitting …. Just like a sorry D effects the Off in football eventually
Our pitchers today gave up 11 hits, 9 walks with 2 wild pitches. I couldn't watch the game, but the stats look UGLY! This off season may be the most important in Tim Walton's career and for the future of Florida softball.
Season is over. There will be another day. The work, of which there is A LOT, begins pretty much right after we safely (God willing) land back in Gainesville. And darn right....It's Great To Be A Florida Gator!!!!
Gators softball 2023 is officially over on a Falby K, Echols foul out and Walsh K. 11-2 loss, finishing the season 38-22. Best wishes to all the players moving on with their lives. And look forward to seeing how those coming back blend with the new freshmen and portal players coming in to make 2024 a much improved edition of Gator softball.
Yes the incoming class is great by all accounts. But they won't fix all the current issues on the field. We need a lot more quality depth. We carried people on the roster who are good people, but did they really contribute much on the field of play?
