What I don't understand is why more people like you don't sign up and make a difference instead of armchair QB'ing the situation from your basement? Imagine all the whistles you could blow if you worked along side them day after day, protecting the community? Or perhaps you think we'd be better off letting the gangs and cartels handle crime? All it would take is a few of you and your like-minded buddies to sign up and serve. You could clean up the mess from within. But you won't sign up, will you? Gee, I wonder why.

Good point. Now, just make sure you never criticize anything unless you are working in that field yourself as well as volunteering for every cause.
I mean, I certainly hope you never criticized the FBI unless, of course, you're in the FBI.

Yeah, just form a group with no special protections and start outing the cops that do things like kill people without being held accountable.

It sorta seems like maybe there is a plot hole in that plan but I can’t quite nail it down…

The FBI does a lot of good things for us. I wouldn't cast them in a bad light, because of a few bad actors. That is the problem with your generalizations and tribalism. You have an all or nothing approach to every issue or else it doesn't make sense to you. Very few things in life are black and white. Most things have tons of shades of gray. I trust our elected representatives to put any necessary reforms into place that are needed.

It's ridiculous to sit here and say "I don't trust the police" when you're not going to do anything to protect any of us. Our country would literally become a 3rd world country overnight if all of our police departments stood down. If you think it's so bad that you can't trust any police officer, well then sign up, suit up and blow the whistle when you see something that is wrong. If you and enough of your buddies do this, things can change. The police have a very dangerous job, so it makes sense that they'll be afforded certain protections an ordinary businessperson isn't afforded. If you're not willing to put your life on the line to serve with them, then don't sit here and say you can't trust them. They are holding it all together for us, whether we want to admit it or not.

Well, folks such as you are already doing that, are you not? You're crying about social injustice from the comfort of your basement without any special protections and have been doing so for decades. How has that improved anything? According to you, it hasn't done diddly squat. So, sign up and serve. Show us the right way to do it. Because if all you're going to offer is armchair bitching from your sofa while they are being shot at on a daily basis, I'm gonna side with the police every time. I like my quiet street. Who's going to keep it that way? You? Lol, GTFO of here..

Eh, I’ll do what I want. But you’re free to take your own advice and stay out of any discussions that don’t connect directly to your vocation. It won’t be the same without you.

I do all that? I'm guessing you don't have a clue what I've said about the police here.

You do and you certainly did it in your reply to me. It's often a convenient retort of yours to lump people into a group and make generalizations that don't accurately reflect the poster's viewpoint at all. Notwithstanding this thread has nothing to do with the FBI, so your reply was completely off-topic to boot.

    Seems like a cool idea.

I am not. I agree w/ the heretofore FDR that public unions should be banned. Don’t think FDR would have voted for Trump 2X; but, i could be wrong.

"Tens of thousands, or more that are corrupt or day a crappy job." Ok, that seems like an issue, right? Do we want tens of thousands of cops with weapons and authority abusing the public all with the near impunity? As far as regular LEOs, for full time officers, there's 600,00 to 800,000, not millions.

I mean, you don't have to watch the videos, but that's almost along the lines of "I didn't read the article, let me tell you what I think of the headline." I put those out there as a snapshot of what, IMO, happens daily across the country.

Also, you mention BLM, which is interesting because the police beat the crap out of peaceful protestors. I'm not talking about criminals who are rioting, I'm talking about regular people. They also attacked clearly marked journalists.

As far as tending to see the worst in people everyday, if a cop can't handle it and abide to the same rules we haver to, Find. Another. Job.

This is pretty much the point. It's to a point, IMO, not a bug in the system, it's a literal feature.

No I don't want sign up, because I have the job I've always wanted, that I went to school for and enjoy 99% of the time. Why would I quit that job, to go take a job that I don't want? I mean, with your train of thought, I hope you don't criticize any Gator football players or coaches on a website who's main draw is.. Gator football. And I'm sure you don't criticize any lawmakers, presidents, anyone in the federal government, covid-19 regulations and responses, on a message board that mainly hosts these exact topics, unless, of cource, you are former Former President Sen. Dr. Okeechobee (R-FL)

    Aurora Police Department

Tell me another job where you can be passed out, at the wheel, on duty, with a weapon, and not get a BAC test or get a DUI. AND get to keep your job?

3 officers smells alcohol, including the first officer on scene a Deputy Chief
    Note that he's intoxicated
    Not request a BAC test

A later investigation showed that the officers BAC was more than FIVE TIMES the legal limit. And he got his job back. So file this one under Cover Up and Conspiracy. Yep, that's exactly who I want patrolling the streets. And nice to know that that his officer buddies will cover for him. He also got promoted 3 years later.

Ask yourself, if you were passed out at the wheel with a BAC over 5 times the legal limit, would YOU get a DUI, or at least a blood test?

    --------------------------

This officer, from the same department "was wasted" and crashed his car into a house. Atleast he was off-duty and arrested. But, he was probationary officer, so the firing was a lot easier to do. A full time officer may have just been demoted, like the officer above. Hell, he may have gotten a promotion three years later like the one above.

Aurora police officer involved in suspected DUI crash in north Colorado Springs fired

    -----------------------------------

Colorado Attorney General says that the Aurora Police Department AND Aurora Fire and Rescue has a pattern of racially biased policing and excessive force.

Colorado AG to force Aurora police reform over pattern of racial bias

    --------------------------------------

Aurora Police receive a call that a man walking down the street looked "Sketchy," they respond and put him in two choke holds and the fire and rescue inject him with Ketamine. He died.

    ------------------------------------------

Aurora Police officer holds his gun to a mans head and then pistol whips him 14 times. He choked him for 40 seconds. The other officer on scene didn't intervene, just sat there and watched. The bright spot here? The 2nd officer was charged for failure to intervene. The officer has previously been arrested for Felony Menacing but pled down to Weapon-Prohibited Use-Drunk W/ gun. That's who you really want to give a police job to?

    -------------------------------------

So is this a few bad apples who have "rough days" or department wide corruption? Come to Aurora where you can get absolutely hammered and pass out at the wheel and not get fired, or join in on our pattern of excessive force and racially biased policing.

This is just one department, and I could add to this one department if I wanted to. When do these "generalizations" go from anecdotal to repeated patterns?

The cost to taxpayers, again, in Aurora

This one was updated last month. They shot a man from feet away with beanbags fired from a shotgun that was filled with metal shot. It traveled through his stomach down into his hip as well as tazing him. His heart stopped beating. Lawsuit filed.

Man files lawsuit against Aurora police officers after he was shot with bean bag

    -----------------

Putting a 6 year old face down on the asphalt, held at gunpoint. They were looking for a stolen car, and this was not it. Lawsuit filed.

    ------------

The man who was shot at close range with the metal shot bean bag has filed a lawsuit.

    -------

2 days ago. Woman with disabilites allegedly attacked by off duty Aurora officer

Aurora police officer arrested for alleged assault on woman with physical disability

    -----------------------------

I'm pretty sure all of these incidents had lawsuits filed in the last year. How much are the taxpayers going to shell out to cover this corrupt department?

What is your grand solution? You don’t trust the police. So who’s going to protect my neighborhood when you disband the police? If it’s not going to be you, then you’re basically asking for anarchy in my streets and this puts you in the One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest category.
