I fully believe it. Would it be hard for me to be friends with somebody who believes in tax cuts or deregulation? No. Would it be hard for me to be friends with somebody who believes that we should criminalize transgender people accessing healthcare or deny gay people equal rights? 100% yes. That's not even getting into the election denialism or QAnon nonsense.

As far as I am aware, your average progressive isn't taking the stance that we should deny white Evangelicals the right to marry or the ability to access healthcare.

Of course, I do have some Republican friends. But I don't blame people who don't.

I don’t disagree. The article references European laws that often make it illegal around 2nd trimester. But at the same time their exceptions are much more lenient such that the article you mentioned doesn’t really happen there.

Failed attempt at semantics. If you were banned from the University of Florida, but FSU and UCF still would allow you on campus, you were still banned from UF no matter how you want to spin that little factoid.

It most definitely is among educated voters, they see this book banning for what is. I'm sure you don't see preserving a woman's right to have an abortion as a winning issue, either. You would be incorrect about that, too. That has been clearly demonstrated. That's why all these states will have abortion initiatives on the 2024 general ballots, it will drive turnout and get rid of these draconian restrictions.

Well then I guess you either favor offering adult content in elementary school libraries or you support book banning.

Think about your state of mind when you have to resort to this sort of false dilemma. Do you think this is actually productive or are just trying to limit the possibilities for meaningful dialogue? It is desperate and unseemly.

    This is a false statement.

DeSantis praises Moms for Liberty at education, campaign summit

TAMPA — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had a salient message for the hundreds of amped-up parents who convened Friday morning in a downtown Tampa hotel.

    He is one of them.

Speaking at the inaugural national summit of Moms for Liberty, a conservative parents’ group that exploded onto the political scene last year with combative protests against school mask mandates, DeSantis wound through his last two years of governance in a now familiar refrain painting himself as the underdog.

What is a a normal business? One that adheres to DeSantis’ political view? A business that doesn’t spend research and development money in things that everyone is looking to I’m the future? Big regulation Ron, who tells people how they can do homers business? This state is not business friendly.

what you want is fascism, where government dictates the political views of businesses. WTF is a conservative business? It a woke business? One that excludes gays? You seriously should consider stop writing. As the right wingers push this country to the right, your extreme views become more into focus as you are emboldened. Want to know where despots get their power? Go to the mirror. You neither understand freedom nor appreciate it.

I don't believe Dems want a socialist country, but I'm starting to be convinced that Repubs want a totalitarian one.

Which of course was the plan for calling literally anything the democrats so as “communist”. EPA? Clean air is communist plot. Public Health? Communist plot to depopulate with vaccines (this is my favorite looney tunes theory). Public Schools? Communist indoctrination centers. Gun Reform? Communist plot to disarm the population.

You can really see the brainwashing take hold on some. A lot of the “influencers” I always assumed were just fake messaging for the grift, I’m sure that’s true for many in rw media who raise money off this nonsense. Yet when you see Tucker’s internal coms or Trumps crazy, you realize it isn’t just a grift, I’m convinced a few are also high on their own supply.

I read about this in the WaPo. Shocking and heartbreaking. I can't imagine being forced to carry a suffering and doomed baby to term. These policies are monstrous.

I agree. Florida is free to ban books, oppress minority groups, shoot up schools, fire people and punish businesses for having the wrong politics, kill off the coral reefs, take away health care for women, jail teachers for having the audacity to actually teach, and free to make Florida the most embarrassing state in the country.

You're out of your mind! Sure, you're free to carry a gun, no matter how crazy you are but...

Women's right to decide her own healthcare? NOT
Public school's ability to teach actual history? NOT
Parent's ability to decide their own children's gender healthcare? NOT
Anyone's (See Disney see Andrew Warren) ability to publicly disagree with dear leader? NOT
Parent's ability to decide which books their kids read in school? NOT
Ability for all formally convicted felons to vote after statewide ballot referendum - NOT
Transparency on government spending on HIS travel and apparent campaigning for pres - NOT

Not to mention blowing tax dollars on fighting ballot referendums we voted for and giving the rich a discount on their kid's private school tuition.

    So free :rolleyes::mad:

My point is when someone just mentions “books” as a knock on DeSantis, then acts like Moms for Liberty is Ron DeSantis for all intents and purposes, that is wrong.

They are political allies, but they are not the same. And Ron DeSantis isn’t responsible for everything Mom’s for Liberty does any more than Democrats are responsible for all of the property damage Black Lives Matter causes (unless they overtly call for property damage).

If enabling radical members of your own base is the grave sin here, Democrats should take a cold hard look in the mirror.

Only in the minds of those with no self respect for themselves or those he's interacting with.

What gall in reducing a nuanced, complex issue to a choice of exposing children to pornography or not. I know you have been getting your ass kicked for two days on this thread, but some of your dodges are putrid.
