The weather forecast for the week looks good-there is a 50/50 chance Tuesday am and after that no rain in the forecast.
Ok folks-here’s what I can share with you from our best friends at Hoover for eats— Oak Mtn Brewing Co- 31 & 119 Pelham,Al Better than average bar food, large selection of beer/craft beer Creekside BBQ 119 & I65 Good BBQ and brewski’s Jim & Nicks BBQ South of Galleria Mall Good BBQ and brewski’s
Their opponent Alabama has been playing better lately. I'm hoping they play a close game that goes at least 15 innings on Tuesday with a rain delay.
Sproat or Waldrep Wednesday? Guessing Waldrep. In the position we are in winning our first game puts us in very good position.
I wouldn't start either. We've already locked up a national seed. I bet he goes with someone else in order to stick with Thur/Fri
National Seed locked up but I'd go to Hoover to win ball games- keep playing good baseball and win a couple of games and fully secure top 4 seed --a #2 seed still possible. Start your regular SPs to get their work in but with a tight leash- 75-80 pitches tops. Regionals begin on Friday June 2 so plenty of time between starts for our top guys to rest and recover. If we make a run at Hoover might see Tejeda get a start.
Conversely, go ahead and start them and then they get an extra days rest for regionals, which is what really matters
Have rarely pulled for Bama in any sport but after witnessing Mingione's antics this weekend--- Roll Tide!
Well said, I'm torn as well on this one. Bama is playing very well these days since the coaching change. Plus they will have plenty of fans in Hoover to support them. We know we can beat Kentucky with their current results. Sproat did have a great game against Bama but it looks like Waldrep will pitch on Wednesday who got the loss against Bama(DH) but it was Sproat who got the loss at Kentucky. Either way sounds like we better be ready as usual since this is the SEC.
Good point on the local crowd support with Bama playing- but UK HC rubbed me the wrong way this weekend. Didn't know he was a Vitello wannabe.
I know the general feeling is that the SEC tournament is basically meaningless for Florida, Arkansas and LSU because our Top 8 seeds are pretty much guaranteed. And I agree that we shouldn't tax the arms of our pitchers too much and let them get rested and ready for the Regionals. Same with Riopelle behind the plate. With all that said and acknowledged, I'm just one of those old timers who likes to see my team win championships. That's what the University of Florida is known for - winning conference titles, regular season and/or tournament titles. So I still want our guys to win another one without jeopardizing our readiness for the NCAA's.
