Our lack of pitchers with any velocity since Barnhill left has been a problem. Delbrey was supposed to have been an answer to that, but it just hasn't happened. Now we have to wait for Rothrock and Brown.

It doesn’t matter who we sign to pitch if we can’t develop them. Something’s got to change in that area.

 

This season either ends later tonight or 1st game on Sunday...especially if Echols is out.

Last year Delbrey was throwing in the high 60's. But that off season surgery seems to have affected her velocity somehow. She's just not the same pitcher she was last season.

I could be wrong but I thought I remembered the announcers in a game earlier in the season say the staff actually wanted Lexie to reduce her velocity but add more spin. If true it’s not working to well.

 

You either have "it" as a freshman like this Stanford girl, or you don't. No one is going to develop high 60, low 70 stuff.

That’s sort of obvious, but there’s a lot more to pitcher development than that. We should have been able to hold Stanford to 2-3 runs without throwing in the 70s.
