The title scared the crap out of me. I'm not available at 2PM!! I thought maybe they moved the game due to weather. Luckily you meant PST. Go Gators!

 

Yep, me too. I have a funeral to attend at 2 pm. Will miss the first half of the Gator baseball game. Glad they're putting the softball game on ESPN.

 

My keys to victory:
1. Don't let any UF pitcher go more than 4 innings
2. Skylar & Kendra having good days

I have to say I’m impressed with the teams in our Regional. Long Beach allowed only one run. Loyola played very well. Who knows what could have happened if Eagan’s faux pas was reviewed. I read from another source that she did the same thing earlier in the game. I’m sure Stanford will be watching her at bats very closely today.

 

Stanford is 41-13, 14-10 in the Pac-12. They are 8th in the D1 rankings, 4th in RPI and #1 SOS. They are 26-2 vs. non-conference opponents, 21-3 at home, 7-12 vs. Top 25, 34-1 vs. everybody else. Their losses are to Oklahoma, Duke, Oregon (1), UCLA (4), Utah (3), California (1), Washington (2). They have wins over Loyola Marymount, and ranked teams Georgia (2), Wichita State, Oregon (3), Washington (1). Their team batting average is .283, with only 4 players hitting over .300 at .381, .331, .311 & .308. They only have 21 HR's and a .398 slugging %, .347 OBP. Their strength is pitching, with a team ERA of 1.57. Their senior pitcher who threw the 1-0 shutout last night, is 18-8 with a 1.77 ERA, 140 K's and 25 BB's in 140 innings. We will probably face their freshman star, NiJaree Canady, 14-1 with a D1 leading 0.57 ERA. She has 168 K's and only 18 BB's in 99 innings, with a .141 batting average against. The Gators have to get good pitching today with clean defense, plus figure out a way to scratch out a couple of runs.

 

Their team batting average is lower than ours. They are #1 in SOS. Because they have played a lot of quality teams, their lower average is not surprising, IMO. We all know we have played a bunch of cupcakes, therefore higher batting averages. I’m not saying we can’t win, but opposing players with low 200 averages have homered off us.

 

We played plenty of quality opponents....just look at the SEC, fsu, ucf, la, etc

 

Well, why was our SOS not better? Big jump between #1 and ours. Those non-conference games count.

 

Agree. Our SOS is #7. Pretty dang good.

 

How are we feeling about this game? I'm nervous but in some ways confident about it. I'll check back once the game starts sometimes I'm high on confidence before the game starts and then it shoots down once first pitch is thrown.

 

After the selection show, everyone was discussing SOS and that the committee was rewarding SOS. If the Gators were 7th in SOS, why aren’t we hosting a Regional?

 

Umm...you still have to win the games
