Gay truck ads are 100% less fictional than the truck ads where they show blue collar type people using them for heavy work. More people have had gay sex in pickups than actually use them as working vehicles, that I would bet on. Glad to see some truth in advertising, its time to acknowledge these are luxury cars for people that work in offices.

 

I agree. I mentioned the same thing to a co-worker earlier this week. Irritating your biggest customer base customer base is just shooting yourself in the foot. Starbucks irritating conservatives is probably not a big deal. A company like Copenhagen doing it is.

 

yep. this winter there was about a 20 foot stretch of gravel on the road down from our place in the mts. Probably where they fixed a water main. My wife thought it ridiculous that people in their big AWD & 4WD vehicles slowed down & drove around it. Most had TX tags.

I thought free-market capitalism was about endless growth and expanding market share, not selling exclusively to one set of people and being happy with the profits. Besides I'm pretty sure they know who they are marketing to when they buy ads in various niche media vs more generic national campaigns. What they dont account for is culture warrior watchdogs who spend their free time sharing ads not meant for them to generate controversy and clout. Case in point being that the ad here is months old and was just dug up.

The thing is, how many LGBTQXYZs own a truck? Most I know actually drive Prius or some other EV. None own a truck. Kind of a dumb ad campaign. It would be akin to marketing wagyu hamburger meat to vegans.

 

There's also a lesson to be learned on your hiring practices. There's an old saying that it's better to ask forgiveness than permission. These woke zellennial middle manager types that are doing these things have no intention of asking either. They live in a dreamworld where consumer backlash against their woke ideas can be cancelled.
