Great win! Clicking pretty good but the bottom 3rd of the order needs to produce better. Is there another option in center field to at least start the game with a better stick, (Prevesk)?...... Just looking at it like this, with our top part of the order generating some good/strong offense, then maybe bring in Robertson late for defensive purposes? Nothing against the kid personally, but four k's is struggling. I tend to agree with an old hitting philosophy, that if you keep doing the same thing during a slump, all you are doing is reinforcing bad habits. Give the kid a sit down and a break in rhythm and let him come in late. Trying to be "team" constructive here. As always,
    GO GATORS!!!!

And Luke and Tyler are leading the team in LOB by a quite a margin recently as well.

Completely agree that something in his approach has got to change. Yes, I’m ol’school—with his speed I don’t mind if it takes the rest of the season—he would bunt his way out of this slump no matter how much hard work it takes. But that’s just me.

He seems to hit a lot of balls in the air for a guy with little pop, and so much speed. I wish he’d flatten his swing a bit. Start hitting some drives and hard grounders. Make the defense work.
He does still draw some walks, and his obp isn’t tragic. I don’t think I want to put him on the bench. I haven’t seen anything out of the guys who filled in for Wyatt that makes me think they’d be a better option. With Shelnut in the field, we do have Tybo on the bench, but if anything, I’d have him platoon with Shelnut, not Robertson.

He would be much better off hitting SLOW grounders ;)

Yep, that’s why I said I don’t care how much hard work it takes.

What's weird is in preseason practice you could argue he was our best chance to get a bunt down. Which is why Sully looked at him in the lead off. Its surprising he is having this much trouble after putting so much effort into it.

    87—

I understand what you are saying with regards to what you saw—simply put if he strayed away from regular (daily) reps from that long ago and it’s now the home stretch it drills have to be refreshed. Work he put in during the preseason hopefully is buried somewhere in his muscle memory and the return to reps (just like pitcher’s PFP’s) can awaken success in games.

With his speed it will give Sully and the team a strong gear to add to the offense. Let’s hope so for sure.

Yeah I get they don't have much time to focus on bunting during the season but it screams attention to detail that matters more down the stretch. Hopefully the redshirt freshman will put in the extra time to wake up those how to get it done muscles.

Halter, Riopelle and Fabian are the only ones I can remember getting good bunts down this year.
