    BWAAHAAHAHAAA!!!!

    The will of the people?

You do realize that DeathSantis has been signing all these bills into law in secret, literally-midnight sessions, because not even most of his constituents support him in these horrific moves.

I think the will of the people just spoke when it just elected the first Democratic governor of Jacksonville - RegeneRon's home town - since the big tree fell.

On what planet do you live, where you think any businesses anywhere in the country would want to move to Florida and be a puppet of DeathSantis or whatever mini-Trump might take his place?

What's going to happen is DeathSantis is going to be humiliated in his presidential run, by a guy who will in prison when Biden is sworn in for his second term, and Disney will go about their business like they always have, almost certainly getting their Shingle Creek agreement back in place.

And whether Floridians wake up enough (sorry, make that WOKE UP enough) to elect a Democratic governor next time, DeathSantis will fade away into nothingness, like the Meisterbergers.

As I recall, Citizens United was about campaign contributions, not free speech.

Now that we're on gay marriage, if you have a memory that goes back literally 15 years, look at how quickly the culture changed.

    1. Obama campaigns on being opposed to gay marriage.
    2. Gay relationships should be tolerated.
    3. Gay marriage is a Constitutional right.
    4. Celebrate gay marriage or you're a bigot.
    5. Offer elementary school kids books depicting homosexuality or you're a homophobe.
    6. You're more likely to be charged with a crime for burning the pride flag in some areas than burning the American flag.

Woman arrested on hate crime charges after Pride flag lit on fire outside SoHo restaurant

I think gay marriage should be legal, but it's not a Constitutional right. And we really lost our way going from an expectation of "tolerance" to "culturally mandated celebration and normalization to children" after Obergefell (but not necessarily because of Obergefell). Tolerance is good, mandated celebration is bad.

What we're seeing today is not Republicans getting more radical. It's Republicans holding the line and growing a spine because the culture seems to be losing its mind at an accelerating rate.

But the USSC deemed that campaign contributions were an extension of free speech if I’m not mistaken.

    I may be incorrect

Oh c’mon, how many of those 2,000 Disney employees really wanted to leave beautiful southern Cali for the hot/humid summers in the middle of central Florida? I lived in Irvine/TurtleRock for two + years before returning to Florida. The weather along the coast in Cali was pretty nice. We almost stayed but family and a special professional opportunity brought us back.

The only people who care about Disney’s cost-cutting decision to stay in Cali are the DeSantis-hating wokesters.

Forbes has Florida at 26 by the way. Regardless, since you went ahead and made my point for me, thanks. Florida has worked hard, especially UF, to be attractive to others in education. The last 18 months have seen an increase in teacher departures, Florida has become the laughing stock of the nation by hiring a lying idiot into its medical school and ending funding for numerous cultural programs that keep a diverse enrollment high. UF will not remain a Top 5 public university for very long.

This is a very interesting Twitter thread about DeSATAN and Disney, casino gambling interests, brevard county, sham GOP candidates that delivered the Senate to DeSATAN for his racist Gerrymandering. Upshot is DeSATAN is beholden to Casino Gambling interests and Disney was pushing back so he went after them on their behalf using wokeism as a canard, but as is he is wont to do, he screwed the pooch. And now Disneys disinvestment is threatening a corridor of development all the way to the coast and likely handing Casino interests an ignominious defeat.

A lot to unpack but really good journalism.

    GO DISNEY

Aw cute. You think you’re an adult. I’ll let you have the last word too. You seem to need it to sooth your wounded MAGA pride.

I believe the court ruled in the Citizens United case that campaign expenditures by corporations were considered speech.

    You are actually correct:

"In the court’s opinion, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote that limiting “independent political spending” from corporations and other groups violates the First Amendment right to free speech."

Just a question, not a flame, if Gov DeSantis is against drag queens, why does he wear women's white go go boots? - just asking.
