Everyone would jump at a chance to go back to the “old system”. It was a lot cheaper to buy players then.

When the guys won’t be playing on Sundays, that’s what you have. If 30-40 teams split into an upper league, all the talent will play there.

The NCAA also doesn't need the same evidence that a court would to find someone "guilty." There was certainly no "proof" in the Galen Hall case. They are just afraid of the lawsuits from their constituents, but they could mitigate that if they really had the stones to do so. They are basically the Fox guarding the henhouse. The money has become so big the system is corrupt to the very top of every University President holding our their hand for that TV dollar....and they are the ones that make up the NCAA.

And everything else will be Ivy League. Okay. If you say so. Math, of course, would say otherwise.

Or maybe they just don't like the smell of a system where you have to set up a sleazy NIL financing operation with call centers and Alec Baldwin types overseeing them. Just a thought.

The level of football is what I’m talking about. Of course the players will be dumber.

This is somewhat true, but it’s always been corrupt. I’ve always thought so, all the stuff it’s not new to me from my point of view. Just bigger money

Even when it's coming out of your pocket? Hmmm. No, I think most of these universities are prisoners at this point, outside of a specific two that thrive in the current system.

The Universities had ample time to get out in front of this. They chose to sit on their hands, and this is what they got. I don’t like it any more than you, but me not liking it isn’t going to make it go away.

Even if a top tier, “scumbag league” breaks away, NIL will still be a thing for this lower tier league you envision. College football has been scummy from top to bottom for a long time. Before NIL was a thing, one of my coworkers had d2 and d3 coaches visiting their son, and even at that level, they were getting hundred dollar handshakes on recruiting visits. There’s always going to be money involved. There’s always going to be those willing to provide it and those who are willing to take it.

ACC probably is in trouble. There can only be two conferences in the coming NFL model for NCAAF football, and the SEC is one. The big10 is probably the other.

The model moves to a 12 team playoff this year, so not much more to match the NFL model there. Once they establish the NFC, sorry SEC and BIG10 they can work how to match the wildcard system, salary caps and what to name the new Superbowl.

I wonder how long until the first team moves to a new university. Only a matter of time before they figure it out. After all why couldn't an independent athletic association separate from the school itself?

I'm almost okay with that though. It's this thought of call centers and an entire operation devoted to fleecing the boosters, making cold calls, etc. that turns my stomach. Maybe all I'm asking for is a league where you don't have to completely sell your soul.

And the schools are making a fortune and they don’t even pay the players. They push the payroll to the fans. What a great business concept. What’s not to like about that from the schools point of view.

I don’t follow the “schools making a fortune” claim. Why is ref$u so broke if they make a fortune? Why is football typically the only sport that generates enough revenue to finance damn near all the other sports (including paying all the expenses to stay in compliance with Title 9)? How can the school be making a fortune when hundreds of million$ has to be spent on the facilities race?

My friend, it appears that you’re using revenues and earnings interchangeably. There may be a bunch of money coming in the door, but there’s a bunch going out too. If you don’t like big football revenues, how do the schools keep from going broke under all the big expenses?
