Its unbelievably sad that the SEC still does not have their SEC Baseball standings up to date. As of now they have Florida and Vanderbilt still at 17-9. Everybody already knows where we stand. I'll check it later and post it anyway even though its been posted on other threads by now.
Conference Standings - 2023 SEC Baseball | WarrenNolan.com Easier on the eyes, more useful, slightly less garbage. But they've updated the official release here: https://a.espncdn.com/sec/baseball/2023/standings.pdf Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
USA Today Coaches poll has UF at #6, plus we're # 6 in the RPI and #1 in Nolan's ELO rankings. We're like the Jefferson's - Movin' On Up!
SEC Standings after Week 9 Arkansas ------------ 19-8 .704 Florida --------------- 18-9 .667 LSU ------------------ 17-9 .654 Vanderbilt ---------- 17-10 .630 South Carolina ----- 15-11 .577 Kentucky ----------- 15-12 .556 Tennessee ---------- 14-13 .519 Auburn -------------- 14-13 .519 Alabama ------------ 13-14 .481 Texas A&M --------- 12-15 .444 Missouri ------------ 10-17 .370 Georgia ------------- 10-17 .370 Mississippi State ---- 8-19 .296 Ole Miss ------------- 6-21 .222 Here are some of the scenarios I posted on another thread for the Gators as to their SECT placement before this weekend at Kentucky. 1. Win 3 finish 21-9 and at worst finish second in the SEC but if Arkansas loses 1 or more Gators are SEC champs either tied or outright. 2. Win 2 finish 20-10 and at worst finish third in the SEC depending on what Arkansas and LSU does. The Gators could still win the SEC if Vandy beats Arkansas twice and LSU loses 1 at Georgia. 3. Win 1 finish 19-11 and at worst finish third or tied for third in the SEC depending what Arkansas, LSU, and Vanderbilt does. 4. Get swept finish 18-12 and could finish out of the top 4 if SC sweeps Tenn, LSU wins at UG, and Vandy wins at least 2 over Arkansas.
Something that came to me thinking ahead to the Top 8 National Seeds. Let's say we make the CWS and most of the other top seeds as well, namely LSU. We don't want to face LSU in our first game and go up against Skenes if we can help it. I'm not saying we can't beat him but LSU is a much different team on Saturday and Sunday than on Friday. So be mindful how we all finish and the ramifications who wins and loses in the SECT. Ultimately the NCAA committee is going to stick someone to face Skenes if they make it to the CWS. But if it was me I'd take a 2-3 seed and be happy if LSU was in a 4-5-8 seed. Ultimately there are other really good pitchers out there but getting around Skenes is one more check box to the good side.
Good catch. We're #3 in today's Baseball America poll, behind Wake & Arkansas. This is the one I like: ELO Chess Ranking - 2023 College Baseball | WarrenNolan.com
The SEC regular season championship will be decided in the last weekend. Gators sweep UK, Arky loses series 1-2, Gators win championship outright.
In my limited access I looked to find Sunday's game between Florida and Vanderbilt on the SEC schedule still shows the game ongoing, that is never went as a final. So maybe that's why the W-L didn't update. Who knows but the SEC needs to up their online presence before this weekend gets going.
thats what the announcers were discussing.. "do you get a hotdog at least?" I would assume it a school decision, and would assume PSU has plenty of $$ to cover baseballs...but?? I mean they throw them out of play now if pitch hits dirt. I know you need a ton for practice etc, but still.. hadnt seen that in while.
