I'd take Alabama and Mississippi 7 days a week over New York or California.

Shithole state - Shithead voters and recently shitty candidates. But if he were to get re-elected (odds shrinking) then it’s really all on the shithead voters especially in the no go zones north of Gainesville known as dumbassstan.

Because the dem party shit the bed in the state the last 20 years or so. National gave up and state party turned left. Fried is first one with a desire to compete rather than coast in a long time. National needs to pay the writers at the Lincoln project to create content for her for local and state races. Good people with name recognition outside of politics need to be recruited and supported. Locals willing to oppose whacko moms for liberty school board seats need organization and funding. That might help Florida fix itself. Coasting isn't cutting it.

That and the votes were bought with covid surplus while opposition has been squashed independent of any respect for the rule of law. Did you read the story about guy from Villages who they imprisoned for opposing DeS machine?
School boards, district attorneys, school superintendents...all squashed due to opposition. Legislature didn’t have the stones to tell him no as they want to keep feeding from that trough once they are term limited out

    I'm sure you would.

For example, the sort of person who would prefer this state to be one of the most impoverished and least educated in the nation instead of being one of America's economic engines.

DeSantis is Disney’s fig leaf covering it’s own flagging financial fortunes.

Soho, did someone rotate your map of Florida 180 degrees. The best parts of Florida are north of the line from Bayport to Brooksville to Ocala to Eustis and ending at Daytona. Had to go around The Villages - that joint is out of control in so many ways. I can’t think of many reasons to go south of that line anymore. I’m lovin’ it up here in Kickassistan.

The best part of Florida is Tampa Bay. Orlando isn’t too bad if you can take the landlocked sprawl. Miami Palm Beach Boca etc are good if you have money. The keys are sublime if you want to zone out. But yeah it’s basically the big metro areas and a sliver from Tampa to Daytona. The rest is shit.

These people simply can't see past their hatred for some groups. There are going to be very real consequences to DeSaster's actions and it's soon going to hit us in the wallets and the availability of certain services. Then these people are going to have the utter gall to blame Biden for the fact their tomato cost $5 ("Biden's inflation, of course") and the fact they'll have to wait a year for a new roof ("nobody wants to work when they can just get government handouts.")

In six decades I have been all across the state from Pcola to Card Sound and Key West to Jax Beach, and damn near everywhere in between. Spent time in all the big cities and many podunk towns from one end to the other. We’ll have to agree to disagree. And I miss the sleepy little Orlando that was before Disney. I am disappointed that I never got to the topless donut shop in Tampa circa 1986, but having missed that boat I prefer only very short visits to such large and, frankly, usually disheveled, cities.

To each their own but Tampa and downtown St Pete rock. I prefer a little culture fine dining and entertainment along with gulf or ocean access which only the big metro areas (ex Orlando) provide.

The lost construction investment is disappointing.

But I’m not going to shed a single tear about 2,000 Californians not being asked by Disney to relocate to Florida. That is a win for the state as far as I am concerned.

I agree with you about Tampa, the Keys, and parts of South Florida. Orlando, however, is one of the single worst places on the face of the earth.

Sorry to all of the offended Orlandoans.

I hope you haven’t been carrying that regret from 1986 all this time. It was ok, but nothing special.
