Well, it would have been nice for him to do that, since he expects that from us.

I'm surprised at both rankings, particularly the retirement rating. Best place in Florida? Jacksonville has a lot going for it, certainly good medical facilities. The arts are not where most other cities its size are, I don't think.
But my biggest question is about transportation. There are plenty of walkable neighborhoods in terms of a pleasure walk. But if you want to walk to shopping, dining, etc., that's tough.
You pretty much have to drive, and while traffic isn't bad for a town this size, it's might be more than many retirees want.

Jax actually has an extensive BRT system. I think it’s called the First Coast Flyer. That aside, it sprawls like the vast majority of cities. But I really don’t think that’s primary concern in auto-dependent America.

Wonder if this has to do with Jax just electing it's second Democratic mayor in 30 years....

Don't know how much it tells us cause she has name recognition in the city. But Davis was DeSantis backed. Definitely an L for him

Well I haven't been to jax in several years, but don't put much confidence in these articles. I often see cape coral as a great place to retire.:eek:.

I won't pretend to know Jacksonville politics. But I do like seeing an L for him

Thanks. I lack local knowledge. So I won't pretend to put it in perspective. But I still like it

Way more surprising was a Dem won for property appraiser running against another DeSantis backed pub who had pics of himself and Ron on all his signs.

From what I read, the Republican turnout was high. It appears that some voted for Deegan as well.

Jacksonville has space, ie lower density. Right now that is valued. It also has some great golf, lot of waterfront, good healthcare, and a growing port and rail network. Price point is good. Too cold for me but, sans lottery win, my retirement years when I can no longer do it myself will be at Moosehaven in Orange Park so I guess it is my ultimate retirement home.

Yeah, don't think it was lack of turnout. I know some Pubs who weren't high on Davis because he was involved in the attempted sale of JEA which was slimy as shit and the local paper exposed. That's my guess on the difference.

For a man who honestly seems to believe he is righteous, he surrounds himself with lots of slimy people. Another one of his picks form Duval was charged and committed suicide over scamming veterans if memory is correct
