Fresh off an SEC title and hot close to the season, a bunch of seniors with a ton of experience....you would think advancing out of regionals would be a cakewalk. Top 5 teams advance. UF started horribly yesterday but rebounded to be 1 shot out of 5th. I kind of assumed they would climb the board today, but it hasn't happened. Nearing the end of the round and UF still sits in 6th....problem is they are 6 shots out of 5th, behind unranked Mich St. 34th ranked UGA leads, UF trails them by 23 strokes. It's attainable tomorrow, but won't be easy.
If they don't make it to the National tournament that's a failure, and maybe its time to look for a new HC.
UF having a solid round (-3 middle of front), and as hoped Mich St struggling (+6)....UF sits in the crucial 5th place spot 2 strokes ahead of MSU. Texas in 4th, one stroke up on UF UF was in really good shape until Castillo triple bogeyed the 5th.
Castillo with 3 birdies and a triple bogey in 6 holes....UF would be in 3rd if it had been a double bogey Up 4 on 6th place which is the crucial issue And as I type Kress bogey and cushion is back to 3
Getting scary again....only one stroke ahead of surging Kansas st who is in 6th. Looks like 4th-6th will be tight 3rd Oregon -10 4th Texas -8 5th UF -7 6th K St -6 7th Mich St -2
Texas with a surge, now -11 Oregon -10 UF -8 K St -6 UF almost done with the front 9. UF is the last group on the course of the "contenders", they will still be out there after others are finished so it will be tense knowing how they have to close
Mich St was -11 first 2 rounds....+9 on front today. Can change in blink of an eye Castillo with another bogey and K St has tied us in 5th, Oregon one stroke ahead of both. Texas rolling and 5 shots clear of UF
I'm guessing the tiebreak is the score for the "dropped" golfer, that would be Kress for UF and his score is not as good as the K St drop. Right now I'm thinking we need to catch Oregon....they just had a guy card an eagle that kept them ahead of us, but they have some guys struggling
UF drops back to -6, as does K St Texas -13 and Oregon -11 so they are looking safe...like I said blink of an eye. Mich St has gotten it back to -4 so they aren't dead yet either UF played the 8th and 9th 4 over as a team....not the way to end the front 9
Texas and Oregon at -13, they look safe K St -8 UF -7 Mich St -5 All fighting for the final spot. UF with 4 seniors trying to extend their careers
Back into a tie for 5th at -8....UF is hitting that par 5 14th which is a birdie hole, need to take advantage (Dubois already did) Crazy, but right now UF is dropping Biondi score today, their best golfer is +1.
