Did you hear that somewhere? She's a great player with 1 year of eligibility left. That would be a great pick up.
Doubt it. Portal doesn't open until tomorrow and she certainly wouldn't say anything as long as Clemsen is still playing.
Rumors but nothing 100% true. I doubt she leaves Clemson. She loves it there and is writing the record books.
Portal opened up today. South Dakota state grace Glanzer enters. Career era of 1.86, 52 wins, and 330 strikeouts. A possible Florida pick up?
With all the pitching we have coming in I’m not sure we take someone now at that spot. It to mention, what top end pitcher comes knowing what we have coming in?
The only pitchers coming back next year are Delbrey and Gigante. Most good teams now have a staff of 5, 6, sometimes 7 pitchers. Two high quality freshmen, plus Delbrey & Gigante, is not enough. We absolutely need to sign as good a pitcher as we can get from the portal, maybe even 2 if we can get them.
If you count Gigante we have two returning pitchers both of which are suspect plus the two freshman superstars. That is not enough pitchers. Most teams have a minimum of five and sometimes as many as seven.
Thought three of the incoming could pitch? Maybe I was wrong there. Also, I was saying you probably can’t get a top end pitcher who knows they could be shoved out for the younger ones by year end. So I would think it’s just filler if we do take one. I could be proven wrong though, might also depend on how much work the staff thinks the freshmen need.
ExtraInnings has a large portal list with few destinations listed. Alabama, Arkansas, and LSU each have 1 player listed in the portal, 2 for A&M., and 3 for USC. FSU picked up a player from A&M. I'll keep checking.
I'm surprised these girls would jump in the portal before their season is over. Those that have must not be significant members of the team.......Good info jhoge.
I just read on a site called robocoach.discussion that 207 softball players officially entered the transfer portal yesterday, which was the first day of the 6 week transfer portal period. It says 20 of them are grad transfers and of the 187 left, 27 are from P5 schools. The top pitcher in the group is South Dakota State ace Grace Glanzer, who has 2 years of eligibility remaining and was the Summit League Pitcher of the Year. Pitcher Ashley Smith, from Michigan State, entered as well. Jenna Lord is back in it. She transferred from Alabama to Ole Miss last year and hasn't been with the team in about a month. Surprisingly, 4 ladies from P5 schools still playing entered the portal: Aubrey Barnhart from Alabama, a sophomore infielder/catcher; Olivia Cook, sophomore infielder who hardly played this year, & Skylar Trahan from South Carolina, a junior pitcher who didn't play this year as far as I can tell; Angie Yellen from Washington, who hit .290 as a freshman infielder in 30 games in 2022, but wasn't on the roster this year. There will be a lot of transfers over the next couple of months and, hopefully, Tim Walton has done his due diligence.
Good info. I don't know a lot about most of them but as for Aubrey Barnhart, she apparently left the team a month or more ago. Bama continues a streak of players fleeing. Skylar, Sides, Kilfoyl, their entire freshmen class last year. We have not seen much of that at UF in the past but I do expect to see some activity this year given the overall of this season and what is coming in next year and the year after. I could list at least four or five that would not shock me if one or more entered the portal. And, as said above, we desperately need an elite level portal pitcher to come in and provide depth and substance to take the pressure off of Keagan and Ava. At this point, we have no idea what we will get from Lexie, if she stays. Olivia simply hasn't shown to this point we should consider her a significant factor.
There is a twitter page called @Softball Portal. It has an extensive lists of player who have entered the portal.
