Baseball America projections are out today and have Gators as #9 seed as well. Remember we are 1-5 on the road in last two road weekends. Sunday's loss vs a middling Aggies team really hurt our chances for a National Seed. But we control our fate...have to win 4 of 6 vs. tough comp to better our chances for a National Seed. Doable but challenging. One game at a time with full focus and it starts Friday evening.
Take 2/3 From Vandy and Kentucky and will be a 5-7 seed. A Sun team will be our 4 seed in Regional bracket. FGCU lost first two to a decent UNF team. UNF 13-13 in conference. Stetson or Lipscomb both pretty decent. Stetson has some pitching. Lipscomb a very solid team.
I'd say Georgia is playing themselves out of the post season , losing 2 to Mizzou and LSU on deck. Can't say I'm sad about that.
At minimum we should jump Kentucky(8), who lost twice at Tennessee, and Vanderbilt(3), swept by the Gators and Florida has a better overall record and better SEC record. Florida also has 40 wins already along with LSU. SOS might mean more during the season but winning late against highly ranked teams should matter more than who you beat in February, just ask the Noles. I have no idea about Stanford, Duke, or West Virginia. I have enough to follow with the Gators and the SEC. I'm hoping we finish with a 6 seed.
If we take two of three from UK next weekend I would think that we are a shoo in for a Top Eight seed. Getting swept or only getting one might push us down to the 9th or lower slot.
Yeah, I don't care what Kentucky's RPI ranking is when you compare it with their national ranking and conference/overall records. Sometimes there are anomalies that the committee takes into consideration. An example is in softball, where Tennessee is #4 in the national rankings, won the SEC regular season and conference tournament, yet are only #9 in RPI. They will be a Top 4 seed, IMO, behind Oklahoma, UCLA & FSU.
yup, Id have UF 4-5th. Only a sweep would knock out of T8.. UK back to #1 RPI(thx to noles win today) so any loss tto them not going to do much to RPI(currently 6)
UK will not be top 8 this week b/c lost series. Same reason UF wasnt last week..lol Its more of a if selected now, than a "projection'
If we win conference we are a lock. We have one game lead on Vandy and they have to deal with Hogs next weekend. I like our chances.
