Don't see why not. It will shock the softball world if she transfers out.

I doubt she leaves. You can tell she loves this team and the program. Yes, Florida had a really tough season this year. But I think they can turn it around next season with the new recruits and a new pitching coach ( fingers and toes crossed) I think we'll have a better season.

I’m thinking he was more concerned about whether she was interested in playing another year of college ball rather than transferring. Didn’t she play one year at Bama, then sat out a year and then played two or three seasons for UF. Will this be her fifth or sixth season counting the year she sat out? It would absolutely be a grand slam homerun to have the best player in college softball come back for another year.

I'm not sure there's anyone I've seen that lives playing more than her

Our UF softball website shows that she played two seasons at Bama, I thought it was just one and that this was her second season playing at UF. So I guess she has a fifth year (Covid) yet to play?

She didn't participate in senior day so she's playing next year.

Not Skyler's situation but let's say that a player is graduating, has a job lined up in another city and has no intention of claiming her red-shirt year.

Just because she technically has another year of eligibility, she can't participate in Senior Day and be honored by the fans and have her family recognized for the three years she gave the team? That doesn't seem just.

Yep. UF baseball had multiple underclassmen celebrated at senior day yesterday, some with 2 years of eligibility

For what it's worth, Jack Anders, Jack Brady, Kyle Engel, Travis Freeman, Will Harrod, Noah Keeter, William Sawyer, Tyler Waxman, Chase Whitfield, Trent Whittemore, and Nay'Quan Wright were honored for football on Senior Day as a redshirt sophomores. There's a little flexibility in the term.

Not true. Redshirt junior is an athletic designation to show her eligibility for playing sports. Has nothing to do with her academic status. She had 2 years of college at Alabama and has been at Florida for 3 years, so I'm sure she has her Bachelor's already.

I think it has more to do with if they’ve graduated or are graduating this year than how many years of eligibility they have left.

Baseball or football is a good place to look for examples. Baseball would be easier to discuss, mainly because of the sheer volume of football players. Almost every year we honor guys who still have eligibility. Off the top of my head, Kris Armstrong last year, Ficc, Nesbitt, Talbott, this year. We didn’t honor Wyatt, who everyone knows won’t be here next year. We also didn’t honor Waldrep, who is VERY likely playing his last season here.

So….if you pretty much know you aren’t coming back AND you’ve graduated or are graduating, you participate. If you know you’re coming back, you wait until your last year. If you aren’t graduating, it’s not offered as an option whether you plan to stay or not. That’s my take on it.

Focus on the last paragraph, lol.

I don’t recall anyone who hadn’t graduated or wasn’t on schedule to graduate during or shortly after the current season being able to participate in senior day activities.
