What’s the difference between follow and support, Q?

I don’t follow Trump. But I did support many of the policies he supported. Not all. But far more than the alternative.

You’re correct that there’s a difference between following someone with blind obedience, and supporting them. However if people still attend this church after his comments rather than look for a new church then they’re most likely followers.

Just out of curiosity was it Trump you were supporting, or the Republican Party?

In my podunk town they run food programs and thrift stores to support shelters for women, the homeless, and upgrading substandard housing for vets, and running Toys for Tots among other good works. They go about it quietly without the spotlight seeking unChristian MAGA behavior that I think you are referencing.

No idea. Firnstarters I’m not sure what you are asking.
What percentage strives daily to live a Christ like life? What percentage follows every commandment and tenet of the New Testament?
What percentage tries to live a peaceful harmonious life?
Lots of ways to interpret what you asked.
I also don’t know how anyone else is truly living? Do you?
One of the reasons painting with such a broadbrush is a bad idea.
Again I ask you are you ok with everyone generalizing based on religion? Occupation? Skin color? Gender?
Or do only a select few have the insight and special knowledge to do as you seem so will to do.

I am discussing the issue of extremist Christian rhetoric and the use or threat of violence. However, you did make your post about me, so that is certainly ironic.

So did you go to his political rallies? Literally following him to a place?

This “pastor” is not preaching the Bible hermeneutically. The OP is being disingenuous about this being a “Christian” Church. Apostasy is real…

I was supporting the candidate that would do more for the policies I support. And Trump actually did a great job with that. I did not vote for Trump in the 16 primaries. I will not vote for Trump in the 24 primaries. I will support Trump almost surely if he wins the nomination as I do not see the dems putting up a candidate that supports more of the policies I support compared to a pub candidate.

I attended one of his rallies for the 2020 election. I did not vote for him in the 16 primaries. I will not vote for him in the 24 primaries. But he far exceeded my expectations as President. And I did go show my support for that. But I am certainly not “following” him.

One wonders when this guy quit being able to identify as a Christian in your mind. Was it when he was giving the invitation at the RNC? When he was sitting on Trump's pastors council? A lot of "no true Scotsman" going on to avoid having to address Christian extremism on the political right.

Apostasy is a real thing. One of the most dangerous things actually…

I think he's saying that every Christian thinks they understand the actual teachings of Jesus Christ ... even this guy ... and they all seem to be convinced they are 110% right. I've said it before, but Christianity has long been a religion used in justifying your own beliefs and wants ... It's become 'God wants for me whatever I want', instead of people thinking about what god actually wants.

You literally went to his rally. That is the type of thing a follower would do. It requires real effort to go see him. How much time did you dedicate that day to a guy you weren't following?
