Bring the brooms! There's been a lot going on this weekend. The team is obviously pulling together and playing for each other, but I want to also give a shout out to the fans. Everyone stayed through the rain delay, and the kids were playing slip and slide down the berms before it even stopped raining. They've obviously enjoying themselves and have taken this team to their hearts. It was a full house to the final out, and everyone was into it. Thanks, Gator fans! I'm sure the team feels your love.

Thanks for posting this so soon and again thank you Gal for all the great coverage you give us. I was hoping I'd get this in early before the game. I predict Cags will hit a homerun in Sunday's game. The pattern is there. All signs are pointing the way. Go Gators and go get another one Jac!

If all goes well we should see Waldrep/Caglianone/Neely. If needed Sully might bring in Fisher or Ficarrotta to get thru an inning so Cags can come in to start the next inning. Main question I wonder does Sully put Cags at 1B or DH and is Heyman the other? Fabian in the series has gone 4 for 6 with a walk and a homerun so he gets another start at third and if all goes well probably locks down the position for most the remained season. Let's hope the bats stay hot and the pitching experiment goes better than planned. We can still learn lots from tomorrow's game about this team's group of hitters and options we have with our pitchers.

    HOLD YOUR HORSES!
Seems we have an about face. Just found this on 247. You might have went to bed thinking one thing but now we have Cags starting.
"In the immediate aftermath of Florida's series-clinching victory on Saturday, O'Sullivan told reporters that the Gators would start Waldrep on Sunday and use third-start Jac Caglianone out of the bullpen and as designated hitter.
But those plans changed a couple hours after the final out was recorded.
According to a program spokesperson, the Gators will stick with Caglianone for Sunday's action."

If you are going to pitch both I thought it made more sense to pitch Cags then Wadorf vs the other way around.

I have a question for the panel, especially for those who have pitched or coached at the college level: I understand that Waldrep is a power pitcher and Futrell less so - but what goes into the decision to bring back a SP after a 1 hr and 16 minute rain delay? Waldrep had thrown only 10 pitches and Futrell 5 or 6. One came back after the delay and the other did not.
You can't say that Corbin hasn't been careful with his pitchers and has had great success developing top guys (unlike the former HC in Tally). It would be good to know what goes into the decisionmaking process behind the scenes. And a related question- why would Sully announce Waldrep as Sunday SP and then reverse?
Thanks and Go Gators- Sweep is at hand!

Just my line of thinking 77 but here it is—the rule of thumb for time delay has always been to my knowledge one hour. Several factors come into play with that time.

Specifically yesterday Waldrep’s time delay from his last pitch to restart was as you said one hour and sixteen minutes. Their lefty’s was around fifty minutes.

Waldrep topping out at 97-99 is considered a power arm as his velocities create more stress on his arm. Their lefty tops out at 91 and while that’s decent in my eyes that’s not a true power arm, therefore a little less stress on his arm when throwing.

A very important key with a pitcher’s coming back into a game after a time delay is not only did he keep his body loose during the delay but will he be able to regain/maintain his tempo and rhythm.

That call is a crapshoot at best IMHO.

To get his answer you’d need to ask Sully that question. I would say a couple of things here—first, even though they both have struggled some with throwing strikes I believe Waldrep is ahead of Cags to this regard—therefore if both are to be used then you roll the dice with the facts that you have with the point of who to bring into the game in relief —Waldrep throws strikes more often than Cags—but again, that’s Sully’s call.

Thanks 74, I thought it could have something to do with the "power" factor of the two pitchers and there was no way of knowing how much longer Waldrep would have to sit before taking the mound as Gators were up with no outs. It's a pity we had the delay as I've never seen Waldrep as sharp as in that first inning. Ten pitches, nine for strikes and just hitting every spot on all pitches. You never know, but with the way he looked in the inning he may have had his best outing of the year.
I'm a bit surprised they did not delay the start of the game as radar showed a rain cell (no lightning) over the airport at game time and movement was generally to SW. In any event, on to today's game and the sweep!

    Couple of things;

kudos to Sully for what appears and feels like the right way to do things last night. If your kid’s a pitcher he’s one of the best in the business as he sees big picture and is thinking about kid’s best interest in the future.

I expect to see Waldrep throw at least 3-4 innings today after Cags.

Would love to see Jac locating his pitches early to gain some confidence and then see how long he can maintain. He's been in a mini hitting slump (by his standards), as pitchers are starting to figure out how best to pitch him, that walk off single Friday notwithstanding. Hope he busts out of it today with a dinger and another hit or two.

What??? Vandy has scratched another pitcher. Wonder what happened to Owen. Carter is a RHP which should help Cags, Riopelle, Heyman and Robertson.
