They couldn’t protect Brady last year. They may need the mobility. If your line sucks, your qb better be able to run. Running is definitely an asset but there’s a reason Mahomes with his 4.8 speed is the best qb and it’s not his legs.

 

He got perfect throws many times...but he had the ability to catch the bad ones too.

He will probably have to wait till he's a free agent to get paired up with a good QB again.

 

Good legs and a strong an accurate arm are the ideal prototype. Richardson has legs, a strong arm, and has to work on accuracy. Of the three attributes, accuracy is coachable. The other two aren’t.

 

it is not opinion, the top QBs Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Jackson, Hurts, Daniels, and I am sure others are all gifted and elusive runners. A franchise that thinks it can compete in the NFL with a traditional drop back QB is living in a dream world or has a truly elite defense and or running game from the tailback position.

 

No one is disputing the importance of a great passing game. However, unless you are absolutely blind or totally in denial, you have to see that the emerging top passers JUS SO HAPPEN TO BE THE GREAT RUNNERS at QB.

To ignore that reality and to cling to sentimental feelings for traditional pocket passers is ruination for an NFL franchise.

 

You have to be a great passer to win still. Legs are a plus but there’s a reason Mahomes is the best right now and it’s not his legs.

 

Brady won year before last and was a shell of himself. Mahomes is the best passer , not the best runner although he can run fairly well. Those others haven’t won shit. All there running will be done soon and they will be pocket passers or retired.

 

It’s not just accuracy, it’s playing qb at a high level. Brady can’t do any of that shit but if he was young he would still be winning.

I think you need to look into that a little more. He purposely blew off his meetings with Indy because he wanted to play in San Diego. By all accounts, he was an immature douchebag, but the Chargers were willing to overlook that.

 

I wouldn’t consider blowing off a team because you have a preference to play for another one a red flag, it can appear that way in retrospect after your career flames out, though.

It's just one example of Leaf's mindset at the time. He'll be the first to tell you he was a complete tool back then and many teams had recognized that before he was even drafted. Thankfully, he grew up and turned his life around after falling on hard times.

Bill Polian of the Colts says in the pre draft process Leaf skipped meetings with no excuse, seemed disinterested and later told the Colts he couldn't come in the week after the draft (if Indy took him) cause he was going to Vegas with buddies.

Bruce Arians who we know is a free spirit, was an assistant at the time who went to Leaf's campus to do background before the draft...

An offense in the NDL handicaps itself with a one dimensional QB. There is only one Tom Brady.

 

Both Brady and Mahomes have/had mobility in the pocket. Most pocket passers don’t. Same is the case with Aaron Rodgers.

Three of the last five MVPS were running QBS.

 

Give me a game that Brady won with his legs. Come on man

 

Being an exceptional passer is just fine if that’s all a qb can do. Great passers win championships.
