Vandy comes to town with their 35-13 (17-7) record. It's always a tussle. We’ve got to execute every phase of our game plan to achieve the success we want—it’s that simple on paper—now are we mentally prepared and ready to be tough enough to take the task on…. Together is the best answer—Go Gators!
This is it Gators- this is crunch time. Gotta win this series and win again in Lexington next weekend. Finish 4-2 and National Seed is at hand. But most importantly win one game at a time with supreme focus and effort.
Vandy is a team that doesn't hit as many homeruns and thus scores fewer runs. They can manufacture runs when needed since they have 31 more sacrifices then we do. With the win blowing in, I would think it favors them and not us. Let's hope the wind dies down early and we get a few late homeruns with runners on.
Vanderbilt's starting rotation is Holton/Owen/Futrell, all of them are LHP. Holton has the largest SEC ERA at 5.40 and usually has the shortest appearances. It seems Game 1 is a must to win the series. Let's hope we get off to a fast start and hold the momentum all weekend. Another note, Vandy only has two other LHP so getting to their bullpen just about always means they go to a RHP. Ginter is their main LH reliever in conference so once he's done we can shift our focus on hitting RHP to end the day on Sunday.
On the hitting side Vanderbilt is a better hitting team in conference batting .295 in SEC games and .280 on the season.
Texas A&M's coach used a ton of left handers against us and it worked out well for them. We've got to get solid starts from our 3 main guys so Sully doesn't have to gamble on middle relief too much. Plus the offense has to get it going.
That's my concern as well. A player like Ty Evans does better against LHP so he might get another chance if Shelnut doesn't stay hot.
Can he still whistle after missing a few front teeth? Not advocating any violence. Just want to know.
I thought I heard him during our softball game today...had to mute it..I hate that whistle.. I leave it to @GatorLurker to make sure he doesn't annoy me tomorrow lol EDIT: so I am clear here..Since we are playing vandy, and they have that annoying whistler, I heard someone whistling in our softball game that sounded and reminded me of him...obviously it wasn't, I joking around with @GatorLurker lol, as he will probably be in Gainesville for the baseball game..unfortunately
I did hear a whistler..I guess I should have said it.just reminded me of him..perhaps someone on uk fan base was imitating him...
Went to game in Nashville earlier in season to watch them play Lipscomb. No whistler and not overly impressed with Vandy. It was early in the year.
We take my 90 year old MIL to any evening games and I wouldn't want her to have to stand waiting during a rain delay. Going to the game will be a last minute decision.
If it holds the same pattern it has had the last few days the game may be delayed but the weather should clear up by 7pm. Storms have been rolling in every afternoon and have been hit or miss depending on where you are.
