Of course, I imagine some posters here wish those numbers were higher, given their vitriol toward trans people. Perhaps speaking with trans people and understanding them would be a better option than the malfeasance of the OP?

Before someone gets cheeky: I continue to defend this community because I care about people. Ted Lasso beautifully demonstrated this behavior in the show's latest episode when a player finally came out of the closet:



I care. I care because I volunteer for a suicide help line where I hear a depressingly large number of LGBTQ+ people begging for someone just to care and not judge based on their personal and (often) religious suppositions. These people have value and I'm so damned tired of seeing people like the OP absolutely diminish that.

 

Thanks for answering, Bluke. I'd be on board with stopping adults from encouraging unwanted/unwarranted gender transition. I just don't know that it's a pervasive issue. Certainly one can find anecdotal evidence, but I asked you for evidence that it occurs with frequency. "It frequently comes up in conversation among parents" is not verifiable evidence.

 

So how can you say your own eyes? Your evidence is gossip among your likeminded friends? They are probably just as obsessed as you, trapped in the same out-of-touch bubble.

 

I’m all for restricting guns from known criminals, or to be kept in the same residence as known criminals. The problem is that you guys make gun control a one size fits all thing.

I think Dooku is a good avatar for you. You're convinced you're doing God's work while helping to perpetuate great evil. I'm sorry. These sort of threads, that are anecdotal and not based in overall fact, do great harm to the trans community. The fact you worked in a crisis center should help you empathize enough to understand the damage that these (at best) exaggerations have caused.

How many people have been assaulted because some person thinks a trans woman was a danger to their kids? Wife? Friends? From the links above, quite a few.

Trans people aren't a danger to your kids in any meaningful way greater than cis-gendered people. The data support the opposite, in fact, given that they're often the subject of abuse.

Please, please do better.
