Who are these extremists that you are referring to? The ones who the Reich wing typically mark as left wing extremists have no power in Washington right now

My response is (IMO) when comparing the extremists on both sides the GOP nut cases are WORSE. Overthrowing Representative Democracy and placing a lying thug in power supercedes the insanity of the "woke" Democratic crazies - by a large margin.

Who are the extremists who are controlling Biden? With Repubs, a large chunk of crazies in the house (House Freedom Caucus, et al) are pulling the strings. And that's just at the federal level. At the state and local level the crazies are even worse.

I agree with you that , “The real Americans are hoping a good candidate surfaces.” The “progressive aggression” is nit the cause. I want a responsible, tough, intelligent adult who wants the best for ALL Americans, someone not married to the Right or the Left. Someone who makes politics for the good of this Country, in the short term and even more so for the long term.

That is the Unicorn that I think “real Americans” hope surfaces.

Don't know where your facts are coming from, but his approval rating is at its lowest rate. Now we know that will fluctuate, but the bottom line is the majority of independents, and they are becoming the majority of the three classes, do not want a Biden/Trump rematch.

The other issue people must take into consideration is Biden's age and his VP. Those two issues combined are reason for concern.

But we're almost certainly going to get a Biden/Trump rematch. Why? Because Biden is the incumbent president and incumbents are almost alway renominated and because Repubs are batshit crazy and will vote for Trump in the primaries by a wide margin over other more reasonable candidates.

Fine, let Biden and Trump represent their respective parties. If there is a viable alternate, I will take a very strong look at them. This may be the first election I do not place a vote because I am tired of voting against someone as opposed to voting for someone.

The Dems are following standard operating procedure. The GOP are the ones flying in the face of historical precedent to bring us the rematch nobody wants but we all deserve.

When you always attribute cynical motives to everyone who disagrees with you politically, you're not giving them much reason to come over to your side.

If abandoning ship even while the guy is the Republican frontrunner in the next Presidential Election isn't enough, then we're really beyond a culture of redemption in politics. Once you pick your team, it's yours and you better defend them no matter what they do, because you're responsible for all of it.

How on earth are approval ratings the measure for "disaster"?

What failures of his administration leads you to believe he's a "disaster" and to whom? I welcome a more substantive and constructive discussion.

You just helped make my point. Many are tired of the "standard operating procedure". Trump is a total nut-case and Biden is an over-the-hill lifetime politician who is hanging on to present a more moderate position, when in fact he is constantly being pulled farther left. Neither one of these clowns represents a more Centrist model. Standard operating procedure isn't working for many.

I mean that's all there is, so what are you going to do, not vote? That's why approval largely doesn't matter, people who don't think Biden is doing a great job are going to vote for him anyways. There are basically two choices, this is the political system everyone says is so great, and the only reason why Biden wont cruise to reelection easily despite low approval ratings is something even stupider about our system, the electoral college.

    Bottom of a pint glass
The type of president we actually need would probably have incredibly low approval ratings. Cut spending and raise taxes? Balance a budget? Close unnecessary military bases around the world? Etc. That's gonna put your approval rating in the tank.

Reread the post. I didn't say Biden was a disaster, I said a Biden/Trump election would be a disaster.

I am looking forward not backwards. As stated previously, Biden is an old-man. He's been a part of Washington since forever. He may not live another four years. His VP pick is frightening. I won't even discuss Trump. Neither represent what most centrist voters are looking for. Could this be a real chance for a moderate D and a moderate R to come together and represent a more center-based agenda? I for one would be interested in that.

That's fine. Don't vote if you don't like either of them.
