I appreciate your advice and I’ll note that you did so in a civil manner.
However, if you’d allow me to impart guidance to you as well…
I think you might do well to plug in and become better acquainted with the trans stories and how it’s creating unnecessary problems for society at large.

Just like it’s a bad idea to pump $11T in liquidity into a supply constrained economy, it’s also a bad idea to have policies that give sick people more opportunities to inflict pain on the rest of the population from their sickness.

Great idea to let a rapist start saying he’s a chick!

I have a great idea: announce that they will not be pressing charges and that HE will be released at a specific time through a specific gate at the jail where he is. Announce that the guards will escort him out the door and close it behind him. We will never have to hear of this sick bastard again.

He was a rapist before he declared himself a woman and had no problem finding a victim.
The issue with stories like this aren’t that he is a sicko, everyone agrees, it’s whether trans people are more likely to commit rape than straight ones. If you or anyone else has that data and it shows they are, then I and probably everyone else is right there with you.
But until then, stories like this aren’t much more than anecdotal fear porn.

I think the issue the OP is getting at is whether we should lock up trans women with cisgender women.

You want data. If the liberals continue to run this place, it’s only a matter of time. You’ll get lots more data suggesting people are confused.

I think the odds of someone I know being raped by a trans woman are about a trillion to one.

Idk. Since you vote progressive, the odds are greatly increased that we’ll all feel the deleterious effects sooner rather than later.
But you’ll keep voting blue. SMH.

    Also worth pointing out:
    1. When a trans rapist tries to game the system so he'd bunk with the women in prison, it's fear porn.
    2. When a Black guy kills a White guy, fear porn and maybe racism for reporting it.
    3. When a Black guy kills a Black guy, it's maybe a regional story and perhaps not even that.
    4. When a White guy kills a Black guy, it's a national story and is a symptom of a national problem warranting protests and outrage.

That is how you manipulate the minds of the unopinionated. You maintain a stranglehold on the narrative through the stories you report.

Actually I would say everything on that list is fear porn.
The odds of any of those happening to you or someone you love are tiny.

Play some more Boy George and show us where they hurt you, but you appear to be squarely in the trans curious column. NTTAWWT

If the person still had a functioning d**k he's not a girl. Just saying.

I know this story is from England. But how does it work in U.S. jails and prisons?

Can everyone just claim to be transgender or are there criteria and processes?

The reason Republicans dwell so much on this issue almost more than the fact that it's actually important is because it's such an easy win.

Most political issues have gray areas with actual reasonable pros and cons that need to be considered. This one really isn't close. When we're talking policy, (I would argue culture too, but definitely policy) reality trumps political correctness. Now, if you want to have a dinner party and refer to someone by their preferred pronoun because you want to be nice. Have at it. But that shouldn't be on your driver's license, that shouldn't dictate what bathrooms or locker rooms you use, and that shouldn't dictate where you're incarcerated.

It shouldn't dictate it any more than feelings should dictate my recorded weight, height, or age.

Are you saying in order to be recognized as a trans woman, they must have had bottom surgery? I don't even know what number that is. Or maybe if they didn't have bottom surgery, you'd still consider them a trans woman if they're unable to get an erection due to age or hormones? These are things we don't generally know about people unless they want it to be known.

With respect to incarceration and housing, in particular, I think it's similar to sports where there are competing interests we have to balance. But I think there are probably things we should do to reduce the risk of rape in jails and prisons generally - such as incarcerating less people, addressing the over-crowding, not putting non violent people in with violent people, etc. The fact that people often laugh about rape as a criminal punishment has always bothered me.

Keep telling yourself that persecuting trans people is a good issue for your party. The problem for Repubs is they will (and already have) take it too far. They just can't help themselves. Cruelty comes naturally to them.

I have seen zero changes to my life over the last couple years, and I've seen so few transgender individuals that I honestly can't remember other than encountering a couple working at a Target or Aldi. Aside from looking slightly different, my interactions with them were no different than any other store worker.

    I smiled, they smiled.
I asked a question, they answered.
I asked for my order, they grabbed it and brought it to me.
I thanked them, they acknowledged and returned the thanks.

They also seemed to get along just fine with their co-workers, which would seem to indicate that there are no major issues from that angle, either, at least not enough to engender any outwardly noticeable animus or hostility.

Outside of your news feed, tell me how transgender issues have impacted your day-to-day life.

It’s not about whether a trans person is or is not more pre-disposed to commit a crime. It’s about making it easier for someone who is already predisposed to commit crimes to do so. You’re completely ignoring human nature to focus on a statistic (more/less predisposed) that will not have any meaningful data to support it one way or another for another decade. Human nature is the path of least resistance. Criminals and sick bastards know this well and put it into practice. You’re just giving the sick more and better opportunities to their thing.
