Gators' weak SOS is not just because of our in-state opponents, but we've had a "soft schedule" this year in the SEC- not playing west power houses- LSU and Arky, and instead beating up on Ole Miss, Mizzou until runninng into a buzzsaw at Aggieland. My take - to be in the running for a National Seed we will have to close very strong - at minimum win 4 of 6 and win two games in SECT
Zero chance UF not a top 8 if go at least 3-3 last 6 SEC games.. midweeks mean nothing at this point.
We have no more midweeks. Our last midweek game should have been UNF on April 25. The only reason we played FSU last Tuesday was because it was rescheduled from 3/28 due to weather.
Ok , then they really mean nothing then.. And really, no more? have to be only SEC team , at least, thats the case. Most still have 2 left.
Strange twist to the schedule. If the FSU game had not been rescheduled there would have been no midweek games in May.
I actualy like that.. no reason to be playing them last few weeks of season.. And if a bubble team they usually do nothing but hurt RPI.. Why Bianco canceled one or 2 last year late. Pretty sure AU softball did same thing last week vs Ala St.. Just cancelled no reason given..lol
I was kinda thinking the same thing - you don't have to drop a RPI killer in May if you don't schedule any lol
Yeah, I think UF would get a top 8 seed with either a win in the final 2 series. Interested to see how some other series the last 2 weeks play out.
5/10 release.. dont shoot the messenger.. I have UF as top 8 D1Baseball Field of 64 Projections: Week 13 • D1Baseball
The baseball seedlings always frustrate me because they give too much weight to RPI and not enough to the more advanced models. Our ELO is five, but our RPI is 11. But it doesn’t matter much, we have Vandy and UK left, we will determine our own fate.
WVU a top 8 w/ 18 RPI..ELo 12 I overlooked them when guessed my top 8 b/c so far down rpi.. but 10-3 v Q1 is pretty strong With that said Morgantown would be high on my prefernce list as a 2/3 seed. Not that Stors is bad either.. Not that Butch cares where regionals are,, same results.
I looked at Indiana State's record and am trying to see what is so impressive other than winning a midweek game at Vandy.
2 really bad losses in the first couple of weeks of the season (USF and JU), but I think the bigger issue is being 5th or 6th in the SEC by some metrics. As mentioned above, there's opportunity to secure a top 8. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
yep I dont get them either.. 2-9 vs Q1.. and 14 of 33 wins are v Q4.. they are also a big reason UK RPI stayed so high during losing streak(series) Ind St is very similar to lsu softball in regards to rpi.. makes zero sense IMO.
D1 is out and has us as a 9 seed but I'm more surprised they have Kentucky as the 8 seed. Again we control where we end up but it seems they are assuming UK wins the series to jump us 2 weeks in advance.
