I’m thinking the libbies are underestimating how problematic the transgender issue is. KY already put a new law in place to stop youth from self mutilation. A prominent GOP candidate roiled the hotly contested primary race for Kentucky governor with a comment that if elected, “we will not have transgenders in our school system," angering LGBTQ advocates in a state that has enacted laws limiting the rights of transgender youth. Confused children need love, support and thorough counseling. We shouldn’t try to fix personal, complex issues with surgery. Comment on transgender issue roils Kentucky governor's race
I think the issue is problematic ... for Republicans. Its all they want to talk about and people think you are weirdos for being obsessed with it. Like KY passed laws, and they still cant get enough or stop talking about it lol Also did we need yet another thread on the same topic ffs
No, it’s weird that you won’t talk about it. It’s like you want to make America weird and inappropriate.
It looks like the Olympics is banning transgenders from track and field competitions. Science | AAAS.
This insouciance towards child genital mutilation probably needs to be talked about more and not less.
The key indicator that America has gone mad is not that increasing numbers of confused children are herded into hormone treatments and genital mutilation, but that people are considered boorish for expressing alarm about such.
Devils advocate. When Lia Thomas identifies as a male but is standing in a women's swim team locker room with male genitalia fully exposed it infringes on people who just want to live their own lives as well. Just saying. I personally have no problem respecting what anyone wants me to call them or recognize them as. Live and let live. I have a more difficult time with a number of other issues pertaining to the evolution of these issues especially when they themselves infringe on others.
What does the government have to do with that? Are they the lockeroom police now? The NCAA can make their own rules for competition, which are also none of my business, really.
Oh I'm with you. I don't want government touching this stuff. My comment was regarding the web of issues surfacing with the movement and your comment about minding ones own business although there is some crossover with government and title 9 in sports.
You are becoming obsessed with this. Wonder what the Republican outrage du jour will be next year? Back to election tampering or race? Or something new?
For me the issue is more complex. OnB had some points. Sure, I'm all in for live and let live. What I disagree with: Transgenders seem to want 100% societal Respect and acceptance. It's not particularly easy to disengage thousands of years of societal indoctrination into the male/female dynamic in a few years. I find it ridiculous and unfair for transgender females to insert themselves into female sports. Just my opinion. I also have great sympathy for straight parents of transgender kids, having to deal, with a difficult situation at home, and of course at school and in the public. Nor do I think children are emotionally or culturally prepared to choose this lifestyle as a preteen. Clearly there is a cross section of society that enjoys indulging in this lifestyle. Methinks one should be (must be) an ADULT to make the decision to continue on this path. There are consequences. Straight parents have rights and responsibilities too. I'm not saying this is easy and yes parents that are confronted with a child focusing on this lifestyle are challenged to make tough decisions. IMO loving parents will figure it out and will support those kids and (young adults) that choose that course. But that does not mean straight parents (And certainly not schools) should be Promoting that lifestyle. Nor should straights be "force-fed" this lifestyle. Because it's a HARD PATH.
Do you think these procedures should be outlawed? Just asking. Aesthetic Genital Plastic Surgery While I'm fine with prohibiting irreversible surgery on minors under the age of 18, the state should stay out of decisions regarding other forms of medical care that best left to medical professionals rather than politicians with an authoritarian theocratic bent.
