Americans largely fault the media for increasing polarization

Had a family friend who was one for 20 years.

 

Journalism is liberal, and in a big way.
I doubt many in media even realize how biased they are.

 

I think some of this stems from new technology that has exposed the racism that was always there. Cell phone recordings of black people getting murdered by police is pretty powerful stuff.

 

And he really made it clear that the primary criteria for choosing which stories to cover and how to cover them was whether or not they'd sell papers?

 

He was told by upper management to sell newspapers. That is how he was judged. Sex and scandals always sell is what he told my dad. But this was in the 90’s before the internet took over.

He passed away a few years ago but he lamented the fall of objective journalism. He was down the middle, which unfortunately is not popular anymore.
