How to keep your ERA down.....pitcher makes an error and magically the runs allowed are unearned. And then fortunately the game ends on a run rule so the runners left on 2nd and third can't score either.
Nesbitt has certainly had some good moments, but the ERA is more good fortune than good pitching. He has 7 earned runs and 8 unearned in 19 innings. 4 of those unearned on his own error

Valid assessment. I still would like to see Nesbit get more opportunities down the stretch. He seems more consistent with his control than most of the other guys who have gotten more chances.

Nesbitt's O-OPS in conference play is 1.017. Here's a list of all our pitchers with at least 8 IP in SEC play:

    Sproat: 0.661
    Neely: 0.695
    Abner: 0.714
    Waldrep: 0.798
    Slater: 0.820
    Fisher: 0.852
    Caglianone: 0.867
    Ficarrotta: 0.868
    Nesbitt: 1.017

For context (O-OPS for SEC team-leaders in ERA among starters last few years):

    Barco (2022): 0.694
    Barco (2021): 0.680
    Mace (2019): 0.749
    Singer (2018): 0.502

My view of Nesbitt is bearish. Much of his IP is from first half the season so he should have lower ERAs. That said he should get more opportunity to develop throughout the season. As some have said he might have an injury or something else is going on. If given the chance I would be very surprised that Nesbitt would keep his ERA as low as it is if he faced SEC teams like our other relievers. He might struggle more than we would like to see. But you would think he deserves the chance to try.

Would tend to agree if he is healthy, surprised he has been shut down this long.
I was actually a little surprised to see Nesbitt has given up free bases at a rate higher than most of the guys in the pen (at least the ones getting real work). Fic, Fisher, Slater and Neely have been better re walks/hbp per inning pitched. Nesbitt, Abner and Tejada are a step below in that regard.

I think he’d throw strikes. I’m an era guy and he needs chances.

I’ll still take ERA over anything else. I think if given the opportunity to pitch more in SEC he’d be more like 4.50 which would still qualify him as pretty good for our team. I seem to recall an SEC outing when Cags struggled in which Nesbitt was pretty good. He can help just needs some consistent opportunities.

    Any difference than Waldron’s delivery?

I've changed the first page lineup to adjust for Deric. Let's hope he keeps up the momentum in the bottom third of the order. Here's a peak...

    Lineup
    1B - Jac Caglianone/Luke Heyman
    2B - Cade Kurland/Dale Thomas
    SS - Josh Rivera/Deric Fabian
    3B - Deric Fabian/Colby Halter
    C - BT Riopelle/Luke Heyman
    LF - Wyatt Langford/Richie Schiekofer
    CF - Michael Robertson/Wyatt Langford
    RF - Tyler Shelnut/Ty Evans/Matt Prevask
    DH - Jac Caglianone/Luke Heyman

    Pitchers
    Starters - Brandon Sproat(Friday), Hurston Waldrep(Saturday), Jac Caglianone(L)(Sunday)
    Closer - Brandon Neely
Mid-Week Starters - Tyler Nesbitt, Yoel Tejeda
Relievers - Ryan Slater, Philip Abner(L), Cade Fisher(L), Nick Ficarrotta, Chris Arroyo(L), Clete Hartzog, Blake Purnell, Anthony Ursitti, Fisher Jameson, Carsten Finnvold(L), Jake Clemente???, Sam Sloan???, Pierce Coppola???

Yes I just got finished watching the highlights. I would have given up on it but the title of the vid said incredible game. I couldn't believe LSU would let a team come back like that. Just goes to show you every team in the SEC is capable of the comeback.

Here are some scenarios for the Gators as to their SECT placement before this weekend at Kentucky.
    1. Win 3 finish 21-9 and at worst finish second in the SEC but if Arkansas loses 1 or more Gators are SEC champs either tied or outright.
    2. Win 2 finish 20-10 and at worst finish third in the SEC depending on what Arkansas and LSU does. The Gators could still win the SEC if Vandy beats Arkansas twice and LSU loses 1 at Georgia.
    3. Win 1 finish 19-11 and at worst finish third or tied for third in the SEC depending what Arkansas, LSU, and Vanderbilt does.
    4. Get swept finish 18-12 and could finish out of the top 4 if SC sweeps Tenn, LSU wins at UG, and Vandy wins at least 2 over Arkansas.

The short of it we need to take care of business go win and good things will happen. The biggest influencer outside of our own series at UK is what happens between Arkansas and Vanderbilt. LSU goes to Georgia and should probably win and SC is a stretch if they get a home sweep of Tennessee.

On this original post I put asterisks by the 7 players who were honored for Senior day so I can keep track of next year's roster. I'm surprised and not surprised at Nesbitt and Ficarrotta but probably says more why Sully has not been using either much lately. I'm assuming they are transferring out at this point. I am wondering why Waldrep was not out there. He is a junior and will go high in the draft. Schiekofer was out there and only here one year so that shouldn't matter. Does it have more to do if they are graduating?

Will be interesting to see where a Fic and Nesbitt go. I think Purnell still getting time where they could have got time May have been a message. Both would be major additions to a Stetson, JU, or UNF.

Nesbitt would start at any of those. Fic would be interesting to see if he changes his delivery again. Tough to say how he would fit in it at least that gives him options.

Purnell has 2 appearances in the last 3 and a half weeks....one of those was .1 innings.
I doubt his "getting time" impacted any decisions lol
