As of today, this Gator recruiting class is ranked #6 on 247 and Rivals and #4 on On3. I don't like the methodology On3 uses, putting much more value on the average rating of the recruits than the number of players committed. Rivals has Bama at #17 with only four commits and an average rating of 4.25. 247 has them at #19 with an average rating of 97.47, which is mind-blowing but unlikely to remain that high. On3 has Bama's class at #2 behind UGA. Always wondered why On3 was such an outlier. I expect two more commits this weekend, Pride for sure and maybe/probably Craver. With 200 prospects in town, who knows what else will happen.
On3 just recognizing the obvious. That out of 4 commits 2 are 5 stars and its Bama so why play with the masses and make them fell good about them selves when we all know ranking Pitt, wake forest, Texas Tech and Minnesota all ranked several spots higher then Bama is not a ranking indicative to real life. I kind of like that they don't try to sell a recruiting class loaded with 85% 3 stars as a "Top 10" class just because they have 8 more recruits (that probably weren't even recruited to said school) With that being said , wow have yall seen our player avg right now? 3rd nationally sitting nearly the same as UGA and trailing that insane player avg Bama got right now.
Difference makers are more valuable than sheer numbers. That’s not to say that the difference makers can’t be 3* guys like Pitts and Toney.
Generally agreed, but Pitts was always a 4 star on the composite and got kinda highish as a 4 star. He just had some blocking TE coveted by ND, UM, and Georgia ahead of him. He was by far the best receiving TE in the 18 class.
Rivals has UF at #9, On3 at #4. ESPN's class rankings are behind a paywall but we're probably just inside the top 10 which seems right. On3 seems wrong.
That depends on if you put more emphasis on quantity or quality. Some schools ranked ahead simply have more commits but our Avg player ranking right now is excellent at 94.04 and actually puts us at 3rd behind only UGA(94.44, 11 commits ranked 3rd on 24/7) and Bama(95.47, 6 commits ranked 19th on 24/7) meanwhile wake forest sits just behind us on 24/7 at #12 with just 15 3* commits. We also have 4 players of out of our 8 commits that rank in the top 50 in the 24/7 clas rankings. I'm loving the quality we are getting in this class and I'm loving the recognition for it in the rankings.
Something that stood out to me is 24/7 is showing us with 4 5* commits. We do have 4 in the top 50 though lol
When you factor in the players leaning our way we are likely to be ahead of ND, UTx, UTn, USC, USCjr., OU, Oregon, aTm when it is all said and done. So it makes sense to not have us behind Wake Forest and others with 15 3* that everyone knows will end up in the 30s to 40s.
UF isn't going to hold on to a 94 avg. rating but we could finish close to 93 which would be nipping at he heels of Bama, UGA and OSU. That first weekend in June is huge for Katie and Billy.
Yep. I keep looking for someone to start the June 2/9/16 visitors list thread. We have a bunch of highly ranked kids locked in to each of those weekends. I think the weekend of the 9th is the one to watch. Hoping that Jeremiah Smith loves his visit, really connects with Lagway and is sold on being the face of the WR room for three years.
Yeah luckily 1# strengthening their already #1 spot doesn't affect everyone else beneath them irt rankings. Hate to say it but that's a great get for them though I will saybi haven't watched a ton of film on him. With that being said there's not much of a difference between Lagway and Raiola from what ive seen irt skill level. I actually like some of the things Lagway brings to the table outside of his athletic abilities including his big ties to the state of Texas, which is always beaming with talent. His non stop recruiting efforts and social media presence are another. Looks like the SEC East is gonna be a heavily talented QB division/conference moving forward. Should make for some great games too.
He is a stud. The complete package as a QB and deservedly #1 at the position in the class. But I know nothing about him off the field, his family, academics etc… where Lagway definitely checks all those boxes.
We'll keep dropping as other schools get commits. Glad we're being selective. Any thoughts on who would be next?
