Just curious as to why you are only interested in race or racism dividing people, there are lots of other things that do. If you are arguing that the media should be bringing people together racially, wouldn't that be a kind of propagandizing/manipulation too?
Where did I say any news I don't approve of is "propaganda"? That's ridiculous. But you are naive if you think you aren't being manipulated by the media. Sorry to break it to you. The NYT and Wash Post saw that Race sells, hence why they went full on racial. Why do you think Sharpton shows up at every racial incident? He's a grifter of the highest magnitude. So is Trump for that matter. It's very difficult to get the news without a left or right spin on it anymore. You
From my perspective the "Media" of today is nothing more than organizations that are financed to create a certain "spin" to promote specific agendas by owners or shareholders to maximize influence, power and of course the financial bottom line. IMO Faux news created this monster. News has as much legitimacy as TV advertisement. In other words NONE. It's a horror show. Just look at it - One is lucky to get a couple hours of actual news in a 24 cycle, the rest is spin or propoganda to promote the B.S. views of the owners. Long gone are the days of news services providing precise information about the happennings around the globe, they are all now propoganda platforms. I still depend on NPR / UPI and to some extent the BBC (with reservation). It's depressing. We are sheep being led to very unhappy grazing by some very unscrupulous "hearders".
This chart says a lot. Especially about a lot on here. Went down or flat for most except White Dems. Not surprised.
I agree Fox started this. We usually don't agree on a ton but this is something we can both agree on.
Do you consider this neutral, accurate information, or just the media manipulating people? What do you think the point of this poll is? Like you are reacting to it, you could say its manipulated you, right? Or at the very least, reinforced what you already believe.
Just avoiding questions, its pretty clear you dont want to have an interesting discussion about how media works, just pass blame. Enjoy the food fight.
LOL. Just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean I didn't answer the question. You keep trying to explain away the indefensible. You keep making up "well what about this" issues without facts. I keep bringing facts that you don't like. Oh well. I'm sure this is just coincidence...
What does this chart even mean? This is a good example of how information can be used to manipulate people. Is your argument that .001% and .006% percent are massive differences? Or that differences of .00002% and .0001% are hugely and statistically significant ... ooh but look the graph jumps so high! Lets say gun deaths increased by a similar fraction of a percent, would that indicate a huge increase in the gun problem? Or even better, since its your hobby horse, if not using masks in COVID indicated it caused more deaths by a tiny fraction of a percentage, would you change your mind on mandates?
While the media gets on my nerves often, it is, after all, "freedom of the press." They've found their niches and what works for them, or so they think. The reporting and journalism still gets done. We just have more avenues to search through to find it. However, I kind of like that I have 100 times more options for news than I did 30 years ago. People will decide what suits their intellectual curiosity.
Ok, so maybe you don't understand math. Statistically it is a huge increase. There are online classes to help you understand this if it's complicated.
I disagree and am no fan of Fox News. All Fox News did was fill the void that was created by a mainstream media who pulled hard left for the most part. It was a brilliant business plan for Fox at the time. But Fox News didn't start the polarization. The country's always been polarized. Civil War, Civil Rights, Vietnam, North and South, East and West. There's always been polarization in the country. Fox simply tapped into a market that was begging for a voice.
I do understand math, the difference between 0% and 0.00006% is negligible. If you told me either of those were my chances to win the lottery or marry a super model, I'm not quitting my job or dumping my girlfriend.
Just another pile on the media thread without really knowing what to be upset about or why. Looks bad for the media? Post it!
There are actual problems in media, and this could be an interesting discussion. But some people really just want to point figures to a few news organizations they already have a problem with, or post charts & graphs without thinking about them too much.
