After watching some video, I wouldn't call him Matt Walsh Lite. He looks at least as skilled as Matt was as a freshman.
I don't put much stock in video clips. I would have looked great in video clips. One intramural game when I was coaching I knew that our opponent played a soft zone. In the first two minutes I hit three treys on three shots and then in the next two minutes they ran at me and I took one dribble and hit three two point shots just inside the three point line on three shots. They then called time out. 15 points on six shots with no misses but like shooting fish in a barrel. That would be a great video. LOL. I messed with the opposing team by subbing myself out for the rest of the game. Thet were very confused out of the time out looking for me. LOL. By then we had the game won.
I'm not talking about making shots; no one misses a shot in their highlight video. I'm talking about the clever and slippery ways Cain fools the defender and zips past, or gets him to bite on a fake.
Well, as @GatorPlanet implied, you can see a lot from a highlight video. I can immediately assess a player's level of skill just by little mannerisms and they way they move with the ball. More specifically, I can tell if you are raw talent, or if you have a refined basketball game. Tell tale red flag for me is if the highlights are mostly dunks and layups off rebounds or generated by an assist.
Fourth top 100 player signed by CMW and at least one transfer that was top 100. Pedigree, of course, is no guarantee of success.
Never doubted Mike’s ability to spot talent. Now…..what he does with it, once it’s on campus……not so much.
UGA Signing some good HS kids. TG needs to pick up some top HS kids in future. Portal is a temp fix but can’t have sustained success with transfers.
