The first goal of any Gator sports program is to win your conference. I know most fans look at baseball and softball as to national seeding and the NCAA tournament. But I still want to win the regular season SEC championship. We still have that in our sights in regards to baseball and that's the first goal I'm looking for this team to achieve. Go to College Station with a sweep in mind, 2-1 at the very least. Then win the Vandy series at home and the SEC title is within their grasp.

Agreed. The SEC is the best or among the best in all sports that aren't named hockey. If you win the SEC you are almost certainly in a good position to win it all. And the SEC is loaded in baseball again this year.

Do 5 different Carolina schools get to host a Regional?
Dallas Baptist would do the NCAA a big favor to keep winning so they can host a few Texas schools and help with transportation costs otherwise the state of Texas maybe out of luck. Here's looking over you UTSA.
Stanford and either Oregon or Oregon State look to be the locations for West Coast Regionals.
If Tennessee and Virginia don't host, they will be a very difficult 2 seed to get past in a lower regional somewhere.

LSU lost tonight at Auburn like all the other league leaders did today other than Arkansas. That throws the SEC race up for grabs again. Vanderbilt and Arkansas have the toughest closing schedules in the SEC. The current standings are after Saturday.....

    LSU 16-6 .727 37-9
    Vanderbilt 17-7 .708 34-13
    Arkansas 16-7 .696 35-12
    Florida 15-8 .652 37-11
    South Carolina 14-8 .636 36-10
    Kentucky 13-10 .565 32-13
    Tennessee 12-11 .522 32-15
    Alabama 11-13 .458 32-16
    Texas A&M 10-13 .435 27-20
    Auburn 10-13 .435 26-19-1
    Georgia 9-14 .391 26-21
    Missouri 7-17 .292 27-20
    Mississippi State 6-17 .261 24-22
    Ole Miss 6-18 .250 25-23

Florida finishes with Vanderbilt, and at Kentucky.
Vanderbilt finishes at Florida, and Arkansas.
Arkansas finishes with South Carolina, and at Vanderbilt.
South Carolina finishes at Arkansas, and Tennessee.
Kentucky finishes at Tennessee, and Florida.
LSU finishes with Miss State, and at Georgia.

So many possibilities but LSU remains in the drivers seat. Just know the need to win each game means more going forward than any win so far.

LSU seems to have the most manageable remaining schedule.

I just hope we get on a hot streak. We need more consistency at pitching.

One more thing, I hope we land some good/great pitchers in the portal for next year.

    Go Gators!

    SEC Standings after Week 8

    Arkansas 17-7 .708 36-12
    Vanderbilt 17-7 .708 34-13
    LSU 16-7 .696 37-10
    Florida 15-9 .625 37-12
    South Carolina 14-9 .609 36-11
    Kentucky 14-10 .583 33-13
    Tennessee 12-12 .500 32-16
    Alabama 11-13 .458 32-16
    Auburn 11-13 .458 27-19-1
    Texas A&M 11-13 .458 28-20
    Georgia 10-14 .417 27-21
    Missouri 7-17 .292 27-20
    Ole Miss 6-18 .250 25-23
    Mississippi State 6-18 .250 24-23

Huge weekend for Arkansas, Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn, and yes TA&M. All of them improved their chances and placements for the selection committee. The last 3 still have work to do but did what they had to do for a chance. This weekend the key series matchups are...
    Vanderbilt at Florida
    South Carolina at Arkansas
    Kentucky at Tennessee
    Mississippi State at LSU
Its difficult to put that last one on the list but all the other teams will be praying for at least one miracle in that one. LSU is 4-3 on SEC Game 3 outcomes but this is MSU. Even though the SECT results probably don't do much with our placement in the NCAA its still good to say we finished with a top 4 seeding and get another day of rest.

Zero surprise w/ D1. Im not even saying AU should be ranked, but about 10 wins shy of getting D1s attention. Quality of overall record means nothing to them IMO.

D1 has nothing to do w/ RPi or SOS other than copy /pasting it.

Im not even sure AU was ranked in media polls last year when hosted,, cant remember. And doesnt matter a bit really.

Valid point. RPI & SOS are computer generated, unlike regular polls which are human votes.

Trying to build this based on Saturday's scores. The SEC hasn't been keeping it updated very fast and I want to put something out before Sunday to help everyone track the day. I maybe wrong but here goes...

SEC standings after Saturday May 13

    Arkansas 18-8 .692
    LSU 17-8 .680
    Florida 17-9 .654
    Vanderbilt 17-9 .654
    South Carolina 15-10 .600
    Tennessee 14-12 .538
    Kentucky 14-12 .538
    Auburn 14-13 .519
    Texas A&M 12-14 .462
    Alabama 12-14 .462
    Georgia 10-16 .385
    Missouri 9-17 .346
    Mississippi State 7-19 .269
    Ole Miss 6-21 .222

Not only is Sunday's game huge for the Gators to go 1 up on Vandy with 3 to go and already having the tie breaker over the Vandy boys, but the Gators are only one game back of SEC leader Arkansas who plays SC again tomorrow. Arkansas plays at Vanderbilt next weekend so lookout for that one as the Gators play at Kentucky. LSU goes to Georgia. SC hosts Tennessee.
