Don’t you think folks read To Woke for Swamp Gas for entertainment? Why else would we waste time reading and responding to comments in these threads.

So, 1/6/21 when they tried to cancel an election, that wasn’t an insurrection it was really just “cancel culture” run amok.

 

Nah, it is literally the same thing.

Cancel culture *is* a social media campaign against a person or thing who stepped out of line, and trying to drive the cancellation of said product or person. Organized boycotts definitely fall under the umbrella of cancel culture, esp when it’s done for purely cultural reasons rather than something deeper (like slave labor or exploitation).

When leftists do “cancel culture”, it’s usually in response to a person violating their norms by going on some racist or bigoted tirade or abusing some woman. Sometimes it seems a bit stupid. Like trying to boycott Chic-Fil-A over a relatively innocuous comment, or when they dig out something from 20 years ago from a persons youth.

When Righties do cancel culture. It’s because of failing to adhere to their standards in a different way. Such as kneeling for the anthem or apparently, marketing their beer to the wrong person. But it’s all fundamentally the same shit.

 

No wonder we want to go to war with Russia and China at the same time. We hate ourselves …

Have to admit that Dylan Mulvaney is an extremely effective influencer although clearly not the way Bud Light was hoping. The marketing executive responsible for promoting the brand certainly proved that Mulvaney has been almost as influential as Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump when it comes to influencing the current crop of American so called conservatives.

So the numbers for April are in and it was a bloodbath for A/B products. A-B volumes were down 12.5%, while Molson Coors was up 7.6% and Constellation up 3.8%. Yikes.

Check back after a few months. Just like Nike, Kellogs, Keurig, Starbucks, Target and all of the others conservatives have tried to cancel, they bounced back to pre-cancel sales and had bigger growth afterwards.

I am just thinking of the peer pressure here, when you go to give a friend a beer and it’s a Bud Light. Or you host a get together and that’s what’s in the cooler, or,you are at a bar and friends see that bottle sitting on the counter. Guys just aren’t gonna wanna mess with that, peer pressure in small towns is massive. You make a social faux pas and the whole town knows by the next day.

 

It much easier to boycott something with LOTs of substitutes.....hell, water is (usually) free.

 

It's symbolically cancelling it and it's completely irrational considering that purchasing the product even with the intent to destroy it provides revenue to the company presumably the opposite of what they are trying to do. Reminds me of the clowns who destroyed their Nike shoes because they were pissed off over the contract Colin Kaepernick signed with Nike or the geniuses who destroyed their Keurig coffee makers machines when the company stopped sponsoring Sean Hannity's show.

Sure. First it was "this won't affect their business at all", now it is "check back in a few months" LOL. Those are huge numbers. They messed up and look even worse now by not owning it. This will be a very slow climb back up for A/B. I'll take bets if you think Bud Light sales will be higher than before anytime this year.

 

Amazon abuses labor, but many are they convenient. Current Twitter is a cesspool of promoted White supremacism, but man does it remain a go-to source for so much entertainment and news.

I was ignoring Kid Rock when tractor rap and nu metal were setting the stage for future vape bros, truck nuts, and Monster energy drinks back in the late 90's. I think maintaining that distance is reasonable. Dude's always been a massive toolbag.
