They have explained, and I posted earlier in the thread. The brand has been in decline long before this, and had no meaningful customer base under 40. They are trying to create a possible future. It came with risk, and they were likely hoping to stay under the radar. But staying with their current demographic means certain failure in the near future. They may have precipitated that, but they had to try something.

You can't gerrymander commerce. There is no Senate to give Wyoming consumers greater value. You can't suppress the "buy" like you can the vote, coming up with pretexts to keep customers of other beers from buying their preferred brand. To survive, you have to appeal to the younger market, who have very different values that their current demographic, especially the Fox News demographic, who use structural measures and techniques to exercise power without broad appeal. But commerce doesn't give you that option.

Anecdotal but a buddy of mine owns a couple restaurants and a golf course in Highlands County and he no longer sells BL at any of them.

I do think there is nuance and I’m not sure it really matters that much. But these are all apparently owned by foreign companies and I’d call them American. Who knew?

    Burger King
    7eleven
    Holiday Inn
    Gerber
    Ben & Jerry’s

The list has a bunch more.

At what point do you notice a pattern in this so called "message board" to what you truly want it to be? Propaganda starts with consent drum-beating of misinformation.

You don't want a message board... quit pretending.

How do you tone down your principles? Oh, I get it, just treat other posters with the same respect they give you... or is it that you would have them treat you? I forgot how this "message board" works. :D

Yep, don't believe for a second that was a low level marketing decision.

While Bud Light sales have been declining, a decline the began long before the trans influencer outrage and boycott by the way sales of other AmBev brands have been increasing so in the end the boycott of Bud Light to the extent that it's had any effect on sales is apparently going to end up as a zero net loss considering the increasing sales trend of Modelo, Corona and Michelob Ultra which are also AmBev Anheuser-Busch brands.

That line shows why the Bud Light team felt they needed to take chances

Cancel culture is doing things like rioting, going to the home of a supreme court justice armed to intimidate, burning down random businesses, stuff like that.

The 60+% of Americans who think this stuff needs to stop are simply just buying other products. That's what civilized people do. Hell, even the person this thread is making fun of legally shot his own property.

The only serviceable beer AB has this side of the pond is Stella anyways, so easy to avoid.

That is certainly not how the term is generally used. It is generally used to signify some sort of economic or social consequence to positions that some people don't like (e.g., people think somebody said something racist, so they stop using their products).

The word cancel means to neutralize or negate something. I don't think anyone is trying to cancel bud light, just encouraging people to consume other products. Personally I hope all 472 trans people buy BL so the distributors still have jobs.

Here is the dictionary definition that is applicable:

    Definition of CANCEL

Although it goes to the point that essentially it is a term used by people who want to make unpopular statements without repercussions to use as a weapon against those who have done nothing wrong in deciding not to support that person after the unpopular statement.

That's their own property they bought. They can do what they want with it. Buying it to shoot is literally the opposite of cancelling it.

    Cancel culture - Wikipedia

Cancel culture is a phrase contemporary to the late 2010s and early 2020s used to refer to a culture in which those who are deemed to have acted or spoken in an unacceptable manner are ostracized, boycotted or shunned.[1][2][3][4] This shunning may extend to social or professional circles—whether on social media or in person—with most high-profile incidents involving celebrities.[5] Those subject to this ostracism are said to have been "cancelled".[6][7][a]

They already owned it. They aren't buying more. And you claimed this was "civilized" way to cancel.

Where are all the, "I don't want politics in my entertainment" people? Where are the "shut up and play music" folks?

    Interesting... :emoji_no_mouth:
