Actually, it is more awful when it’s a teacher, a clergyman, a doctor, a Boy Scout leader, etc. These are people that others are supposed to be able to trust. As far as pointing out this guy’s background, Governor Abbott the other day publicly stated that a killer had murdered 5 illegal aliens, and yet, that scumbag gets elected in Texas when he runs for office.

 

Well the option exists. Haven’t seen his posts since December. No skin of my nose if you want to unwind though his posts in the Ukraine thread are pretty atrocious. I’ll have to stay out of it for the most part.

Hard to know what’s in anyone’s mind or heart, but you may be right. I have questioned the same about Putin; I doubt he spends a lot of time thinking about Jesus.

On the other hand, we typically take people at their word about their religious beliefs. I think courts rarely look behind such claims. I was very skeptical when some argued that Bin Laden couldn’t, by definition, be a “real” Muslim. Or about WWII era Germans or Klan members being Christian.

 

But how do you tell? The followers of the prosperity gospel seem very unchristian to me, but I think Joel Osteen is considered to be Christian

 

Jesus never spoke or prosperity. There is no prosperity gospel in scripture. Its just made up by men seeking selfish gain.

Jesus was not against prosperity per se, but it certainly has no importance to him.

Of all the fundie flex posts I've read on this site, this is one of the most peculiar. Imma respond to each point as it deserves.

Note: I don't care if soeone's religious. If it gives your life meaning and helps reinforce a sane moral code? Good. If your use of religion is to suppress others' rights and dismiss critical science, I'm gonna cry foul. This is why I draw the line between a Christian and someone engaged in fundamentalist Christianity.

 

Not technically related to the thread title, but more from that Twitter feed on some of the individuals that get actually arrested. Again, I am not suggesting that this Twitter feed is unbiased and that they report all such arrests. But it is interesting
