The cost of higher education certainly matters. But the quality matters more. I think if you gave a number of people the choice between Harvard/MIT and UF or FSU, they'd pay a lot more to go to Harvard or MIT.

I don't disagree, just saying the cost of Harvard and MIT hurt their ranking.

Yes, we should go back to the endless Trump bashing threads instead of trying to find a solution... to protect our kids and grand-kids from these pedophiles. These people that that want to indoctrinate our children must be stopped..

I gave you lots or rope, I_boy (apropos description/name too) but you couldn't just replay in kind.. Have an Ignore button.

Teachers need to teach their subject matter not try and get kids to think that they are gender neutral. Yes, these teachers all over the counrty are indoctrination kids instead of teaching curriculum.

I don't think that's what he meant to say, but I have a fondness for real woman teachers with nice tatas... So, I could be prejudice that way.:D

    How many genders are there?

If you can answer that correctly we have no problem with the LGBTQ1+ community... as long as they disappear from schools and our children's'/grandchildren's lives.

They have shows in the cites theaters where they are free to play dress-up and acting. We should treat them like pornography actors. Hide them away from all our people under 18 years of age. And if these teachers try to to indoctrinate the children... fire them.

    No more gender neutral crap..
No more multiple gender lies being taught in school.
    No more pronoun crap.
No more sexualizing our young students.
No more tranny story-time in schools.

There are other things we need to focus on, like STEM curriculum... and band... Art... PE. But sexualizing young kids should be illegal.

Scott gave teachers raises and they would have been bigger if the pub legislature wouldn't have fought him over it. Why do you keep ignoring that fact and repeating your misinformation?

Cost and debt are bigger factors in these rankings than quality. Not that they dont matter but these rankings are not focused on quality or test scores

Florida went backwards on the scale. From 47th to 48th.

Did the plan proposed by DeS get passed or was it the only thing he proposed that didn't get rubber stamped?

    Florida combats colossal teacher shortage

According to the National Education Association, Florida ranked 48th in the nation for teacher salaries in the 2020-2021 school year, giving them an average of $51,009. The national average that year was $65,293.

The NEA estimates Florida will continue to rank 48th for the 2021-2022 school year. It was ranked 47th when Gov. Ron DeSantis took office
    ....
This is the worst teacher and staff shortage we've ever seen in the state of Florida," he told Newsweek.
    .......
His daughter was without a science teacher for half of last year as well. "So this is something that's happening and impacting our students, our kids, every day," Spar said. "When you talk about over 5,000 vacancies, you're literally talking about hundreds of thousands of students that are not being taught by a certified teacher in their classroom."

There is no hatred involved in my assessment of DeS' accomplishments in public education..... he totally bungled the one pay raise and literally the rest of his education record is culture war propaganda to the maga base, nothing based on data, facts, or best practice. There is in my attitude a toward DeS a growing abhorrence of his fascist approach to punitive government. My question is how does a man that wears 4 in. heels hate drag so much?

    • But Florida, where DeSantis has been cultivating a national spotlight by taking on culture war issues, including in schools, led the nation in terms of teacher vacancies in the 2021–2022 school year, a report by researchers at Kansas State University's College of Education found.

DeSantis' much-touted pay raise focused on starting teacher salaries and "left veterans behind," said Chris Fulton, an English teacher at Tarpon Springs High School, who has been teaching for 25 years.
It's a "slap in the face," Fulton, 65, added. "You've got teachers who've been teaching 25 years, who are making maybe $10,000 a year more tops than somebody who's just walking in off the street."

Actually it’s not. Family is. But up high on the list is contempt of government in general. I can respect your sentiment. Surely you know what I am referring to if you earn your living defending those whose rights have been violated. In almost 40 years in contracting I can tell you that the most frequent and egregious breaches of ethics have come from the USG contracting and oversight offices. If you’re unfamiliar, look up Darlene Druyun. I can guarantee that what she convicted of was not even close to the full scope of her malfeasance.

It usually goes something like this from them; I’m right you’re wrong. Facts don’t matter because I have the power. Basically I believe that if people give anyone too much power then they will get abused by that person. The only question is at what point do they come to the determination that they have the power to get away with what they want.

I have with dealt with dozens, if not hundreds of local, state, and federal politicians. To me there’s not a lot of difference between them and I don’t say that because they are cream of the crop.

Who knew that we actually had more than cars to agree on.

Well if you paid teachers what a girl would get to babysit per hour ($15.70 per hour in Florida average) that might be fair.

    That would be 150 students X $15.70 = $2,355 per day.

    $2,355 X 180 = $423,900.00 per year. Seems fair.

We are in 100% agreement that the government never wants to admit when it's wrong, will keep taking and taking whenever it can, and will fight you tooth and nail if you call them on it. Yes, the locals are not any better than the others, and can sometimes be worse. We (the people) gotta keep them honest, and that means people being willing to fight them, despite the odds.

I love the overproofs. Tonight was Woodford Double Oaked. Got a bottle for my birthday a few weeks ago. I can see it working it’s way into the starting rotation.
