So two (?) guys in tactical gear carrying long guns in the most heavily armed state in America (with open carry) go in the a mall with hundreds and hundreds of people in immediate proximity and kill a bunch of them. Yet not one “good guy with a gun” does a damn thing to stop them? And the answer is more guns and bump stocks? Shit hole state shit hole country.

Respectfully disagree. It's the same time every time. It's not sarcasm or making light of the situation. It's literally the same reflexive arguments every time by the people who say the problem can't be addressed.

It's also exactly in my wheelhouse. A local highschool had a threat yesterday. My response area covers the school. We spent the morning talking about how we were expected to respond because there is a lot of policy that is left undefined. Most of us are willing to risk job and life rather than sit idly by waiting for policy to play out while kids and teachers bleed out. This isn't a lite subject for me.

It was facetious. I was adding to the list of anticipated defenses. And would have added some quibble about the technical mislabeling of the weapon.

I don’t remotely think it’s too soon. If anything, it’s too late. By decades.

I am beginning to think the reason leftists don't want to discuss the "why" as in why do two people think it's cool to shoot a few people at the mall before they will be inevitably shot and killed within minutes, is because they'd have to address the breakdown of the family in America. They don't want to talk about why someone would do this. They only want to talk about taking away people's rights. Leftists are quite dangerous, indeed.

News services saying 1 person alone. Regardless it just means there are not enough guns yet. Need more.

Who or what do you blame for the breakdown of the family in America, and do you think it’s a uniquely American problem that explains the frequency of our mass shootings?

Divorce rate now is lower than it has been in 50 years. But don't let me stop you from deflecting to the problems of the 1990s as a reason to ignore the problems of the 2020s.

You really think conservatives are the only ones concerned about the why? Some kind of exclusive rights?

Violence is overall low compared to historical levels. Mass shootings are up. So the break down in families only affects mass shootings but makes us safer everywhere else? Come on man.

Video cam footage. He leaps out of a car and immediately opens fire gilling a bunch of kids and presumably moms in front of H&m

In many cases the why is irrelevant to any meaningful solution. it's the ole if we knew why, we'd know how to solve the problem fallacy.

It really isn’t complicated. The more guns that are out there, the easier they are to acquire, and the easier to be transported everywhere we go, the more likely somebody is going to get shot. It doesn’t take a lot. Maybe 1 in a 1000? 1 in 10,000? All you have to do is watch tv, look at social media, or even go to crowded places and there’s always going to be someone who marches to a different drummer.

The functional purpose of a most pistols and assault style rifles is to shoot and kill people. We shouldn’t be shocked that occasionally people use them for its explicit functional purpose.

Countries that don’t have guns don’t have many gun deaths. Coincidence?

I think that improper enforcement of the ones that we have would be a better start. Since the criminal justice system doesn’t oversee and enforce what is already on the books, why would we trust them to oversee and enforce additional laws.

It is news to me that we don't enforce gun laws in this country.

Are there even any gun laws left to enforce? Governors like DeSantis and Abbott are working hard to get rid of them.

Seriously? In states like TX, there hardly are “gun laws” at this point.

I would also imagine that the rate of boys growing up without even knowing who their father is has gone up as well.

I went to one of the first two integrated high schools in Orange County. I was in middle school when that school was first integrated. On any given day in our high school there was a .22 or shotgun in a dozen or so cars/trucks in the parking lot. There was never a shooting in schools in the 70’s or drive by shootings, even though guns were readily available. In addition to availability of guns, there has been a serious decay in respect for life and civility to others overall. Evans High School was not the only school with guns in the parking lot.
