OU, Texas get OK from regents for '24 SEC move So, the Big12 will be again be true to their name after OU & Texas leave. The Big12 will go from a currently/previously 10-team league to a 14 team(2023-24 season) to finally a 12-team league again, lol!
Before the Big 12, they were once the Big 8 and the Southwest Conference. Oklahoma and Missouri were Big 8, Texas, Arky, and Tammy were SWC. The Big 12 didn't even exist until the 1990s. Every program wants to suckle at the teat of the SEC.
Is there a plan to redraw the geographic lines of the SEC East and West divisions? I would imagine that Bama and Awbrin might slide into the East, with Okie and Texas in the West.
I thought they were doing away with East-West and going to those dumb "3 permanent opponents" and rotating everyone else according to how the SEC wants to help/hurt (err, um, "fairly schedule") certain teams. At least in football. Top 2 (regardless of strength/ease of schedule) go to Atlanta. In BB probably just look something like this:
Georgia will likely continue to have the easiest schedule in football each year. Like schedules where they use previous year results in scheduling to make top teams have to play each other during year. since this is a basketball thread, UGA does not matter. Texas should improve our league basketball team persona. Usually have done good athletes.
I doubt they go that route for the SEC tournament, it will be similar to what we have now but instead of two games on Day one there will be four. 4-4-4-2-1.
