College football rankings: Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State lead post-spring top 25 ahead of 2023 season
When does he own it? I think He’s owned it more than he should have. I heard “ that’s on me” and “we have to coach better “ ad nauseam. Where do you get that he’s blaming players? Or past staff? Please give at least one example.
Im saying the blind loyalists here are blaming others. See are the anti AR, bad roster talk. And again, when will you begin to hold him accountable? You keep ducking the question. Clearly you don’t think he owns 2023, what about 2024? 2025 a free pass as well? Are you giving him a lifetime contract?
The homers on this board will give him a pass for two more years. They're already broken out the rebuild excuse. Every bad team I've ever followed had it's extremely subjective fans use that one. The truth is, in the age of the portal, the good coaches figure out a way to get better quickly. Billy is in way over his head.
They won’t even say 2 years. I’d respect them if they said 2023 and 2024 are rebuilding years and Napier should not be judged. I’d disagree, but I’d respect them for having an opinion Right now they have no opinion outside of an infinite timeline, no accountability, no benchmarks for success, etc. They are even afraid to say there would be trouble if we won 0 games in 2027
So you are a "fire them after one year guy?" based on what? What is your mandatory win total? 9? 11? 15? I suppose thats one way to approach it.
naaa - If we are 0 - 12 in 27, I'm definately firing the maintenence workers and floor sweepers. May even go after a grad assistant or 2. I would extend Napiers contract another 5 years though..........
Folks, this is going to be a down year, be prepared for the worst. With the schedule we have, 6 wins will be a miracle. With the exception of McNeese, Charlotte and Kentucky, every team will be much improved. If we somehow find a way to beat Kentucky at their place and surprise Tennessee at home, we may have a chance at 6 or 7 wins. One thing is for sure, the play calling and time management has to improve. Napier is not going anywhere, this year or next. He is here for 4-5 years. Our only hope is that he does turn the program around, and he continues to recruit well, otherwise, we are doomed because no elite coach will want to come here and replace Napier.
How is it a lie? I’m simply asking for short and long term expectations? I’m asking for when Napier owns the program and the collegiate careers of many young men. Im not saying there is a right or wrong answer. It is not being “doomsday” to say a coach eventually has to be held accountable to reasonable expectations. This is true for every coach in every sport. I’m just asking what their answer is. It is not a lie that they are refusing to answer. It is true that they are straight refusing to say when they think Napier owns the program and when he should have accountability over our record.
No. I’m simply saying I can admit if we win 0 games in 2027 it would be a failure. The blind loyalists can’t even say that
Why would anyone be talking about what would happen “if” we win zero games? Your “what if” doomsday scenarios are tiresome. What if we go undefeated? That seems about as likely as going winless. Anyone making contingency plans for either of those scenarios is likely a little off their rocker.
It was an extreme example to prove the point. The blind loyalists won’t put any level of accountability across any timeframe. To them Napier will never own the team and never be held accountable no matter what happens. It’s not a “what if” doomsday scenario. The blind loyalists refuse any accountability at any point in time. That’s the point.
So you need for everyone in the fanbase to set some arbitrary number of wins and losses that would put the coach on the hot seat? Why? That’s defeatist. That’s just downright depressing. Why choose to live in that space where all you can focus on is what scenario could arise where we’d be able to fire our coach?
