I was referring to the threads period. Its all getting silly. The board is getting bogged down with this stuff.
Perhaps people wish to derive a sense of the nature and extent of your bias. Fwiw, I have had two trans students in the degree program that I oversee. One is a complete academic failure and will not earn a teaching license. The other is an outstanding student, good musician, and president of our discipline's student association. According to you, neither one should become a teacher, correct? I don't really know why, but the trans phenomenon seems to be more prevalent among today's college-age people. Several folks on Too Hot have claimed not to have ever met a trans person. Working in higher ed, I have known several trans students and worked closely with two. I wonder if it is indeed more common among young people and if yes, why? Is it really simply a matter of being more widely accepted at this time?
This is obviously just my opinion, but I think it's because it's more accepted. I don't see it as a fad or a new phenomenon. In the past people were afraid to express how they felt inside for fear of being made fun of or hurt so they led their whole life as a lie. Imagine living your whole life pretending to be someone you're not for fear of being chastised. That sounds awful. With this new generation they no longer have to live that lie.
Please link where you substantiate the assertion that these teachers did anything like you're suggesting.
I thought maybe he was arguing that if they're not doing those things, then they shouldn't feel any reason to leave. But I think LGBT teachers would have valid concerns about whether the new guidelines are going to be enforced equally against non LGBT teachers and concerns about exactly how these laws are going to play out in practice given the mood and rhetoric in a lot of places.
I'm guessing a lot of black, gay and Jewish teachers in Florida are uncomfortable with recent trends and contemplating a move to another state or to a progressive, non-sectarian private school, if such schools exist in Florida. Teaching at a Jewish day school is an option for some. I'm assuming charter schools are required to teach in accordance with the state's new regressive mandates.
They're spot on. Your words don't say otherwise. Your words are also assumptions and generalizations about trans people. Project much? Not a serious thread. Called out by a mod? Sad. Time to let it go, Elsa.
It’s a very serious thread and topic for adults and serious people. That you missed it doesn’t surprise. I didn’t assume anything. The teachers are literally leaving because of the gay bill. Scary. I worry that these teachers are unprofessional and overly emotional and shouldn’t be teaching our youth. It’s very distracting having someone this confused trying to educate children. And I’m stating this nicely. No wonder our country is so screwed up. And people like you don’t even know what you believe, except white man bad.
You have to love when the OP unintentionally diminishes the importance of the subject of his own thread after spending the first two pages making broad claims based on the exact same evidence.
Really? Just from visiting these forums you would know it’s happening all over the country. Hell there are states and counties that require elementary schools to teach gender identity without parental permission. San Francisco Unified School District mandates that educators teach about gender identity in elementary school; explains that parental involvement is not required - Parents Defending Education
I have gay neighbors three houses down that are also leaving. One is a chef, the other a elementary teacher. They have adopted three black children and are great members of the community. John can't talk about his husband at work and their kids can't talk about having two dads at school. Just another loss for the community due to Christian nationalism taking control
Guessing that based on black teachers knowing that black history is being white washed or not taught at all, gay teachers knowing that gay has become a forbidden word and Jewish teachers seeing evangelical Christianity become the driving force in public education. Even my faithful Catholic sister-in-law is done with it. She will teach her last class at the end of the month.
Ok, well what about my gay friends who love Florida, voted for Desantis and never want to leave. This is productive. We get to keep the cool gays, and the libbie ones leave Fl.
So a gal who’s been and is likely still confused about what gender “they” should be is leaving south Florida for Boston. Liberals on Too Woke for Swamp Gas complain that someone started another thread on TWFSG quoting just another “news” article about just another transgendered person in Florida. What’s funny is ….. this topic would not exist had the woke “reporter” not written just another “transgender story” in the first place. As long as wokesters continue pushing transgenderism as a topic worthy of news reporting …… these stories will appear on TWFSG.
Cool. You get to keep two gays while blacks, gays, trans people and many Jews feel marginalized and single women are afraid to have sex.
I have good news for you then. Black history is being taught big time at my childrens schools. My white children enjoy learning about their history. I can’t speak for the Jews but gays and trans who are butthurt, no pun, over the states push to keep the inappropriate stuff away from our children should go back up North. It’s all going to work out fine for everyone.
