Comrade Trump threatens to “seize the endowments” of Universities.

He also wants to raise taxes to do it. Which of course I’d completely against everything republicans stand for, but they will loudly cheer him on when he does it.
It’s just bizarre.

 

He will have the government commandeer the means of educational production in order to stop rampant communism.

I would also follow this logic to other obvious improvements. For instance, I would immediately and simultaneously bomb Beijing and Moscow so that we don't end up in a war with China or Russia in the future. Tough call, to be sure, but someone has to make the bold choices.

 

Trump continues to make an ass out of himself, but his former supporters don't really care about his latest shenanigans, their loyalties lay with DeSantis - for now.

 

He's just laying the groundwork to re-institute and then federalize Trump University.

 

The US has the best University System in the world and it isn’t even close. Let’s see if it survives the war with the GOP.

Maybe Trump and DeSantis can get into serious oneupmanship:

Trump - I'm going to seize the endowment of any university that practices affirmative action.
DeSantis - Oh yeah? Well I'm going arrest anyone who even calls for diversity, equality or inclusion!
Trump - That's nothing. I'm going to remove DEI and CRT from the alphabet!
DeSantis - That's weak! I'm going to ....

Former President Donald Trump said he would push to seize the endowments of universities that practice affirmative action in a new campaign video that outlined his policy goals for higher education, should he return to the White House.

In the video, Trump blasted the "exploding" cost of higher education and vowed to adopt an aggressive policy agenda aimed at thwarting the "indoctrination" of students.

"The time has come to reclaim our once great educational institutions from the radical Left, and we will do that," Trump said, indicating that he would use the college accreditation system to "impose real standards on colleges.

 

The former president also embraced a call from the more populist elements of the conservative movement to tax the endowments of major universities. Trump said that he would pursue a 100% tax on endowments for schools that "persist in explicit, unlawful discrimination under the guise of equity" through the budget reconciliation process in the Senate, which allows legislation to bypass the filibuster, which requires 60 votes.
