Some things definitely never change. S.O.S. used to lament the same with admissions. (obviously not the portal aspect)
I said it before and I will say it again, we need to investigate these admins too see what's really happening. I don't trust these ones that graduated from different colleges and different universities... not for one second. It's been going on for far too long to be less than crooked. And before I read this link below I wrote this above. I seem to remember Larry Grant back in the day not being able to transfer in from Juco because of a math class yet he was able to get into OSU and played against us in the title game. Fortunately he didn't have the impact on the field that was expected from him as he was a very highly regarded player at the time. That was under Meyer but we had these issues going back to spurrier days as well. I might be mistaken but Robert Baker played WR for Auburn but I don't belive had the grades to play for Florida. He was a Gainesville kid even.
That was an SEC requirement...haven't heard the fabled "math class" costing anyone for years. By and large UF gets in the same kids everyone else does. There may be a small bump here and there but IMO the whole thing is overblown. The kid currently being bemoaned is Grayson McCall, and he couldn't get in anywhere, Auburn specifically
We'll see... one day we will get the truth about that. But I never heard Auburn was a consideration for him when we wanted him two months ago. They are new to this QB. As in after he was denied by UF admins. However, right now Auburn is trying like hail to get him, as I hope we are too.
Auburn was all over him in the early portal. And from very good sources his transcript was not going to fly anywhere. My impression his only hope was as a grad transfer
Yes, grad transfer was the only way... That was my expectation when he get denied... few weeks ago. Now... when does he graduate? Sometime in May, I suppose?
not sure how a player would be submitting applications BEFORE they are even in the portal. Especially when for at least the spring portal they only have two weeks to make the announcement and they certainly cannot be applying to schools before that window if they have any second thoughts. Todd golden hasn’t had problems offering kids the day they hit the portal (and haven’t applied to UF), have them visit within a week, and getting a commitment a day later. I’m not sure what the issue is with the football team transfers.
