On that Top 10 list with Wallace are 3 players from Oklahoma, 2 each from UCLA & Tennessee, and one each from Clemson and Wichita State.

There are approximately 5500 girls playing division one softball and Skylar is in the top ten. Very impressive.

With Delbrey being the only returning pitcher (I'm not counting Gigante), do we go out and hit the portal hard for an experienced upperclassmen to team with the 2 highly thought of freshman? Just don't know what to make of Delbrey.

I hope we do man. The way the game is now I’m not sure any teams can have enough quality pitchers.

Most quality teams now have 5-6 pitchers. FSU has 7. I think we need to get 2 more very good pitchers in the portal to go with Delbrey and the 2 freshmen.

And Delbrey needs to step her game up. The talent is there.

Over the last three or so years, the best teams have been Oklahoma UCLA and FSU and all are coached by women. Do you think this is coincidence or do good women coaches make for better coaches.

I think Walton’s trophy case is fairly well stocked.

We, at least need women assistants. We will bring on a paid 3rd assistant July 1. Even if that is a female, there is no good reason to have 3 male coaches over 50 coaching women's softball. That has to change.

We make so many mistakes in every game, but it is what it is. There are so many things we don't do very well.

And yet in January of this year, D1 Softball named Florida as the #2 softball program in the country, behind only Oklahoma. No doubt this is a down year by Gator standards, but Tim Walton has proven himself in 18 years at UF to be one of the best softball coaches ever. The 2nd fastest coach to record 1000 wins and above an 80% winning rate at Florida. I do agree with those who think he needs to hire a couple of highly qualified women assistants. But in no way do I think he needs to be replaced by a female. The greatest softball coach ever was a man, Mike Candrea, and Coach Walton has a chance to become the winningest softball coach of all time.

I listened to the D1 Softball Podcast featuring Skylar Wallace. After Skylar was off the air the commentators said she was a shoe in for SEC player of the year. They also said even though she had the numbers would not win college softball player of the year award unless Florida made a deep run in post season. Finally they said Florida was the most disappointing softball team this season. Please don't shoot the messenger.

I pretty much agree with all of that. The National POY will probably come from either Oklahoma or UCLA. Wallace has had an incredible year and I can't imagine any other player having numbers better than hers. Unfortunately, more often than not, those type of awards often go to the best player on the best team.

I will put our number 17 up against anyone in NCAA Softball. Skylar Wallace is the best player at the moment in NCAA Softball.

I’m wondering if it would make sense to have the third assistant be a top level woman coach who was a fast pitch pitcher. I’m thinking that while hitting and fielding seem somewhat similar skills to those in baseball, softball pitching is quite different and could maybe benefit from someone who has had to do it competitively?

We definitely need a female pitching coach who is high-level. But none of them are coming as the third assistant. Too many cooks spoil the broth. Bosch needs to go and be replaced by that person. This is nothing personal about Bosch; it is just a business decision.
I have been a critic of Aric ever since he has been here. The team is definitely hitting better, but our situational hitting is not good. How do you leave the bases loaded twice in one game and not score? How do you send a batter up to bunt to move the runner and they don't? Head scratchers.

In the Ole Miss series, we left 24 on base, including 11 in the loss.
In this week's FSU game, we left ten on base in a one-run loss.

    Something has got to change.

    Rant over for a while.

We are generally scoring runs....I mean 7 runs and still 10 left on means a lot of baserunners and pretty productive offense. FSU left 8, we arent alone.
Generally I blame execution issues (not moving runners, failing to get a bunt down) on the players. They know what they need to do, it's up to them to execute it.
I like Thomas better than Bosch, he seems to be a very solid recruiter.
