Morally issue of so-called conscience protections for medical professionals. For some reason this just showed up in the local paper today. Interesting that if you turn down care, you are required to notify the individual's employer. Can't see anything going wrong there. Also, it will be interesting to see if there will be future litigation regarding so-called conscience medical professionals that refuse to treat LGBTQ patience suing insurance companies if they are not included in network. I'm curious as to what insures will decide in terms of having in network treatment options. I can see a lot of litigation over that
Florida bill protecting ‘conscience’ allows doctors to deny treatment

Which I still doubt is actually the case. Because excepting strict liability crimes, crimes require intent.

    From Florida Politics text service

Campus 'speaker diversity' gets the OK -

A bill that would regulate the diversity of speakers at the state's universities and colleges is on its way to the Governor.

SB 958, sponsored by Sen. Keith Perry, whose district includes UF, aims to root out an alleged "monoculture" in higher ed and ensure speakers representing "multiple, divergent and opposing" viewpoints get stage time.

According to the sponsor, the measure is "preemptive for the most part."

It's the grifter support act. Conflict entrepreneurs will get speaking gigs intended to provoke, going racist or homophobic, then when students react, that would give the legislature cause to come down on the students for not being more open to Republican ideas, a term which in itself is a bit of an oxymoron

and now the DeS legislative party has passed a law that will make it much harder of illegal immigrants to live in this state. we can't get enough labor under current conditions, good luck getting your roof fixed, your produce picked, your lawns mowed etc after he signs this into law. can this guy and his minions be gone quick enough? How did we allow christian nationalism to hijack our gubmnt?

I blame the democratic party for failing to put any resources or viable candidates into the state the last 6 years.

DeSantis immigration bill approved by Florida GOP lawmakers (msn.com)

The bill provides $12 million for DeSantis' migrant relocation initiative, which drew national attention last year when the governor flew a group of South American migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, a move intended to protest federal immigration policy.

The measure also expands requirements for businesses with more than 25 staffers to use E-Verify, a federal system that determines if employees can legally work in the U.S. It prohibits local governments from providing money to organizations that issue identification cards to people illegally in the country and invalidates out-of-state driver's licenses held by undocumented immigrants.

Another provision would require hospitals that accept Medicaid to include a citizenship question on intake forms, which critics said was intended to dissuade undocumented immigrants from seeking medical care.

Invalidating an out of state license? I don't see that one withstanding a lawsuit

this legislature and guvnr have no concern about whether their laws are legal or not. It's like they have lost any respect for the law and trust that the 11th will back up whatever they throw against the wall

Great individual story about a teacher likely leaving our system as our state is systematically transformed into something that doesn’t even try to serve all it’s citizens

There is a glitch in the GC system. It happens infrequently, but on occasion a blocked poster ("blockee") will be able to see that a blocker has posted, but without the body of the message being there. The blockee can still rate the post even though he can't actually read what he is rating. He is doing it on username alone. The one you are referring to apparently does that every time the glitch pops up. He does it to me, too.

Thank you for posting that. The absolute and utter ignorance of Holcomb...first, to think it and then to actually say it on the floor of the legislature. I didn't think I could be stunned by anything a Republican said in their official capacity any longer. I was wrong.

Obviously the correct result, but how was Statewide involved in that to begin with? Did the person register/vote in more than one county?

Let me guess. Change is constant such that you measure the rate of change offends reactionary sensibilities
