This weekend series against KY could be for the SEC player of the year. #1 Wallace v #2 Kowwalik. Should be fun to watch. Two of the games on ESPNU. Go Gators.
I can’t fully agree with that. We have starters Skylar, Emily, Reagan, Avery, Katie, and Kendra. They will be in the mix, and may beat some of these out. But don’t overlook those people returning. Lex will still be here, but I agree the incoming pitchers have to show out. I am definitely looking forward to it.
Not being critical Scrappy but you didn't mention Sam. This girl has tons of potential and has a great swing.
I'm hoping, as I have been for some time, that a true replacement for Rocha will be brought in to work with all this pitching talent. I also believe that the new pitchers should have a positive effect on Lexi, and that as a unit they will elevate each other to new heights.
We'll be improved if Goelz and Kisler are no longer everyday starters. I suspect catcher will be a platoon position.
Current RPI rankings. The seedings are largely based on the RPI in Softball. Pretty confident we won't be hosting a regional. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/softball/d1/ncaa-womens-softball-rpi
I apologize to Sam most of all, and to the board. It was unintentional believe me. Sam not only has lots of potential, but has contributed both the years she has been here.
And in today's new D1 softball regular ranking, we've dropped to #22. And with Kentucky being ranked lower than us, winning the series against them isn't going to help much. Even if we beat FSU Wednesday there are still too many teams to climb over to get up to #16 or higher.
I was referencing series wins over AU and UGA.....and UK is still highly regarded as is FSU and possibly SEC tourney opponents
Oh, OK. I just don't think that's going to be enough. Our D1 ranking dropped to #22 today and our D1 RPI ranking is #21. That's after us winning series against Auburn & Georgia. Kentucky is ranked behind us in both regular ranking and RPI and so beating them won't help much, IMO. A win vs. FSU would give us a little boost but I highly doubt it will be enough to climb over enough teams to get us a Regional seed. There are 6 SEC teams ahead of us and we would have to jump over Auburn, Central Arkansas, Wichita State, Clemson and Oregon just to get to #16 in the D1 RPI. The possibility of that, to me, is pretty slim. Auburn is the closest to us in RPI at #20, but they're 13-8 in the SEC, while we're 10-11, plus they're ranked #13 in the regular rankings and finish up hosting lowly Miss. St.
Yeah, it's not likely....but with UGA and AU ahead of us, but with series losses to us.. we have a shot if it's close. Probably need a nice run in the SEC tourney
Granted it has not been a great year but we deserve a better ranking than 22nd particularly since Auburn and Alabama are ranked 13th and 14th.
What about Ark at 12 & LSU at 15? lol I know UF has series win over AU, but also 3 games back in sec. Just shocked AU finally above the 2 teams theyve won series from and ahead of in sec.. behind both last week. I also know out of those 5 teams. Regardless of media rankings, UF wont be the one left out of hosting if any are. Assuming win UK series.
A win over the Noles Wednesday would be huge. Coupled with winning 2 against Kentucky and the Gators would almost certainly host a regional.
