By: Eric Fawcett -- April 25, 2023 Still with open scholarship spots to play with, the Gators are looking to continue their elite transfer portal class with the pursuit of North Texas guard Tylor Perry. Transfer Target Tylor Perry Announcing Decision May 2nd | GatorCountry.com
Come on Tylor, pick the good guys. With you on board, we're going to be a really good team next year if everyone stays healthy. A lot has been brought up about who starts next year, but imho Tylor has been promised a starting spot if he commits. Hard to sell coming off the bench for such a highly rated transfer.
From TOS: Perry took an official visit to Florida from April 7-9 and seemed to greatly enjoy the trip. The former North Texas guard ranked among the best shooters in the country in late-shot-clock situations, a skill that exactly fits what head coach Todd Golden said he is looking for. With players such as former Iona guard Walter Clayton, sophomore wing Riley Kugel and big men Tyrese Samuel and Micah Handlogten, among others, around him, Perry's scoring could take Florida to heights it hasn't achieved in recent years. https://247sports.com/college/flori...-Golden-Kansas-State-Gators-roster-209016864/
There is more value in coming to Gainesville for many reasons. The only workaround is the guard from Iona, Walter Clayton. Can the two play on the floor together? Clayton is 6'2" and Perry is 5'11" (which means they are 6'0" and 5"9"). Granted we could shift Kugel to the 3, Jarvis 4, and Samuel at the 4, and play without a center.
Yeah - this is why I don't see it. Didn't TG say Clayton was his PG recently? You can't then go and pull this guy in. Is there an announcement time tomorrow?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...doesn't look good for Perry. Both K State's message boards indicate it looks like he committed to them. And this.... https://247sports.com/Player/Tylor-Perry-46042160/
TP pushed back his announcement this morning to later this evening. Florida is still in it. It may come down to additional NIL $
As I expected, based on the way he was operating. I don't think Golden is prepared to go "all-in" for his skills and size.
The services rate Perry really high....love to get him. The top-5 players left In the college basketball transfer portal (basketballinsiders.com)
