Missed the game due to family commitments, but was pleasantly shocked to see the big run-rule win. Seems Lexie had a shaky first inning and then pitched great the rest of the way. Helped to have all the offensive support, I'm sure. I saw, also, that Kaila Pollard got in the game for the first time in a long time. If she's healthy, that could be a boost to the offense down the stretch. I hope Sam Roe is OK, as she didn't play yesterday or today and that's unusual. Good to see the entire lineup, top to bottom, doing some damage. 10-11 in the SEC with 3 @KY left. Have to win 2 of 3 to keep from having a losing conference record for the first time in the Tim Walton era. Kentucky is 8-12 in the SEC and losing today to Miss. St. 5-2 in the 6th inning. The Wildcats have pitching problems of their own and, hopefully, our offense can light 'em up. But first, I'd love for our ladies to beat FSU in our last regular season home game on Wednesday. That game is on ESPNU at 6pm.
LOL! True -- I just wanted the run rule as *some* consolation for yesterday's debacle. But I just hope that thought went through the volunteer coach at 1B head (I don't know her name). With two outs and not a force out at 2B, the run scoring at the plate would be considered a timing play. In a different game, if we lost by one run the decision to send the runner to second would be huge.
Personally, I wouldn't say "great" but I'm glad Lexie got the complete game win. Hit two batters, walked four, one wild pitch. She was definitely on fumes and was getting noisy outs near the end. CTW sent Hightower went to warmup in the fifth, but Lexie got out of it. Agree it was awesome to see Pollard in the lineup, even if only to hit. She got walked twice and was immediately pulled from the game the second time. My guess is that she's not 100% but if she can be return for regionals, that would be a big help.
lol -- as the guy who sits behind home plate always yells at the umpire, I guess I need to clean my monocle! I just assumed she was still there.
I’ve noticed Thomas as the 1B coach for the last couple weeks at least, anyone know the story with that? Not listed as a coach anymore either.
Actually the women have done well with just mediocre pitching. In Softball, pitching is everything. Fouts is 9-1 at Bama while Bama is scoring only 3 runs a game.
Brewer had already been with the team for 2 seasons in an off the field role, definitely curious to have this result midseason. Lord help us if that is the only staff change this off-season.
