I agree with pretty much everything you just said there, but you have to draw rules that apply equally both ways.

Just the way it goes. I think that this is the way that causes the least amount of problems. But no policy is bulletproof.

It's so odd that some people can't figure out that just because you don't want to play pretend with them doesn't mean you dislike them or are afraid of them.

Personally I don't care if a man wants to pretend they're a woman. I don't care at all. I don't want to play make believe with them. If they're a man then they're a man. Born with a weiner? Man. If they want to wear women's clothing and use a high pitched voice that's cool.

If they want others to ignore reality and also pretend then it's optional for each person and their choice shouldn't be held against them. Play along? Great. Stay grounded in reality? Great.

The issue is they want society as a whole to be required to play along. You don't make policy based on pretending.

Well, since you have framed everything in about the most condescending manner possible and with absolutely no consideration for the split between biological sex and gender, it is not really showing that you don't dislike those that you claim are "pretending" or not "grounded in reality." In fact, I would argue that it is showing quite the level of disdain. This fits quite well with my point, in fact. I did say that many people who don't like transgendered people don't like it pointed out that they don't, largely due to the social consequences of that admission.

Well, that is quite fair of you, but I would expect any reasonably informed individual to avoid such lack of awareness. Hard to imagine that my bar is higher than yours here.

Yeah, I get that you can’t have a law that says “unless you really look like it”. Just pointing out the complications that may come. The ones who look nothing like their biological sex would probably be better off just breaking the law. Yes, I know that last sentence sounds ridiculous no matter which side of this debate someone is on.

I have never heard “calling a spade a spade” used in a racially prejudicial context.

And I wasn’t using it in that context here.

    And you know that.

I don't care. And you know that spade is a derogatory term for AAs.

But I wasn't using it in that context here.

This thread had nothing to do about race until the race-baiters tried to make it about race.

I've used the cliché in the past without being aware of that meaning. So I'm giving the same BOTD to others, even a person I vehemently disagree with.

Reality for all of human history means men have weiners. Women don't. Literally all of human history.

A woman is an adult human female.

If you want to pretend to be a woman that's fine. I literally don't care. If you want to force other to play along by mandating men use the women's bathroom or dominate female sports that's a problem. Want to use the women's room at work? Ask all women at your workplace, if they all agree then go ahead. High five for being honest with people. If any say no then accept that they aren't playing pretend and move on.

What? Are you implying we should treat people pretending to be another race as the race they're pretending to be? Should whiteys who identify as black be considered black?

Tbh it seems like you're making my point for me. Race is a biological reality and people of different races are simply that, people of different races. Men pretending to be women are biologically men. I agree we should see them as biological men and treat them as any other man. Just as a black man should be treated as any other biological man.

    Thanks, I guess?

It’s scary to you that people have a right to vote and their votes count? Nice. You’re making the Taliban proud. Maybe they can assist you in locating where I wrote about drag queens.

I strongly suspect that you don't have a thorough sense of gender across societies and history. For example, try googling the term "Māhū." I think you will find that world history as it relates to gender is quite a bit more complicated than you think.

Race is actually a social construct, not a "biological reality." So thanks for the eugenics, I guess.

I've seen this deflection before. It's a "third gender", not a man who pretends to be a woman. It's a separate entity.

A woman is an adult human female. That's it. They don't have to "present as female", they are. Go ahead and find me more than anecdotal references to men being women anytime in history.

Women bear kids. Women have female anatomy. If your imagination was reality you could solve almost all sex trafficking by simply having the victims "identify" as men.

Really? So black skin looks black socially? Interesting.

How then can scientists figure out what race a skeleton belong to?

If there was no biological markers then people would pop out random colors. That would be kinda neat tbh

Edit to add- my wife is a black woman. She's proud of that, and should be. Everyone should be proud of themselves and who they are. I just asked her if she thinks that's just a social construct, but she was pretty confident it's genetic.

If race is determined by skin color, at what pigment does a person become "white"? At what pigment do they become "Black"? How about Asian people? What pigment(s) differentiates a person who is Asian from a person who is white or Black? How about Native Americans?
Race Is a Social Construct, Scientists Argue
    Race as a Social Construction
Race Is Real, But It’s Not Genetic
