If I knew how to do gifs here I’d do one from bill and teds excellent adventure because I’m super psyched also. 2024 baby! 10 year anniversary of first national championship. See how fate is lining up!
Bender aggravated an old injury in her hip. She had an MRI yesterday diagnosing a stress fracture. She's out for the season.
With baseball doing analytics, I'd like to see stats on runs produced when the top of our order starts with no outs or one out. Both yesterday and today, every at bat for Skylar Wallace was with two outs. The exception yesterday was the first inning (we scored) and the seventh inning -- we all know how that turned out. Today, even with two outs today, we could load the bases, but just couldn't push through. I think we had the bases loaded three times today but nothing to show for it. It's almost like we'd be better off to give up an out and let Skylar start the next inning with no outs.
Or find a way at points during the game to just manage to turn the lineup over just a bit more. I hear what you’re saying though but I doubt that will ever find purchase in a coach’s mind. For example bases loaded and a stud is up to bat. Probably better to walk in a run than give up a grand slam but I don’t think I’ve ever seen any coach make that call.
The timely hitting just wasn’t there today and as amazing as Skylar is she can’t do it all. Team sports and all, win together lose together.
The past is the past and what we have right now is what we have. Futuristically, we just need Walton and staff to ‘hit on’ more of their evaluations and recruitment of classes like the one that is coming in next than to ‘miss’ as they have the last few. Don’t need to get back in this situation again. Lots of ‘high quality’ young ladies, just not the talent that is needed to produce championship ball.
They've had great high school and travel ball careers. It's a huge step from there to D1 softball, but these 2 are tremendous pitching recruits no doubt. And Brown can hit as well. Remember, though, that Rylee Trlicek and Lexie Delbrey were both the #2 rated pitchers in their respective recruiting classes. Is lack of player development an issue at UF, especially since Jen Rocha left, or were these 2 pitchers just not able to make the big step to being elite SEC pitchers? I do think Rothrock & Brown seem to be the best pitching recruits for Florida since Kelly Barnhill. But most D1 teams now have 5-6 pitchers on their staffs, and with Delbrey and Gigante being potentially the only returning pitchers, Coach Walton needs to hit the portal and bring in another quality pitcher or two to make sure these 2 freshmen don't have the immediate pressure of carrying the burden alone.
Well, I don’t know but I’ll be giving major positive manifestations towards them once on Hogtown soil
Ocala- The key word on the pitchers is lack of development. 8 pitchers in the last 4 years and not one has been developed. Tim did not just lose his ability to recruit great pitchers. As I have stated for 3 years, what has MB done? If he worked for me with this track record he would have been gone at the end of last season. Why do you think we can not get any real pitching talent out of the portal?
up Wallace + Falby + Walsh + Roe + Pollard + Wilke + Goelz + six fantastic freshman = one fantastic softball team
We shall hope and see. I still think he needs to add another portal quality pitcher to the mix, plus maybe another top notch position player.
